Hi Guys,

Just wanted to give you a closer look at King & Country’s three newest Warbirds. They are available for purchase on the K&C website.

AIR048 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.V (Don Gentile Version)
Decorated with the future emblem of the 336th FS, this aircraft was regularly flown by Lt. Don Gentile during the autumn and winter of 1942-1943. The fighter later retuned to RAF control, and saw service with Nos 118, 610 and 611 Sqns.

AIR047 Hawker Hurricane (Eagle Squadron, XRJ)
This particular aircraft had seen action with No 253 Sqn from Kenley during the latter stages of the Battle of Britain, and was then briefly used by No 303‘Polish’ Sqn, before being issued to the No 71 Sqn. When the American unit received Hurricane IIAs in April 1941, this aircraft was sent to No 55 OTU at RAF Usworth, south of Newcastle. The veteran fighter was finally written off when it hit the ground in bad weather near Houghton-le-Spring, in Durham County, on 15 August 1941.

Andrew,

I don't see them listed on the website, at least not under the Warbirds section. At any rate, what is the price for each?

Brad, since the financial meltdown they have put such models in the "Pie in the Sky" section. Ok, off to bed for naughty boys :(

You're not kidding Oz. None for me for sure. Have to pull in the belt a little bit, except I'm running out of notches

Very nice looking and tres cher Mark V. Hopefully we will see a more modest priced 1/32 version from HM or some one soon.

These are now listed on the website, which they have updated. It shows a Mosquito still available, in addition to a Henschel, Hellcat and Swordfish. The price for each of the above new planes is $795 each.

Its nice to see that warbirds are holding their value at $795 and not comming down in price....... unlike the stock market:D:D;);)

I would like to see a picture of the desert Fichlerstorch and the Stuka.

:eek::eek::eek:

Wow! I understand the costs of production, and that K&C has to recoup those costs, and make a profit to keep going. But that's too steep for me, economic crunch or no!

But, suum cuique, prosit!
Brad

In addition to the high price there is also the major problem of displaying aircraft models in 1/32 scale and being made of wood you can't really hang them from the ceiling

I might also mention postage is over $100.00 to the US.

$100 sounds like a lot but K & C wants to make sure that the plane doesn't spend that much time in transit because things can happen. That's why it's overnight shipping. Also, if you tried to send it yourself, it would cost you around $250 to send so $100 is not an unreasonable figure.

Freight costs are relative. For example it costs me about GBP 60 (USD 100) to ship a 1/72 scale Corgi model worth about GBP 30 (USD 50) from the UK to Australia, so USD $100 for shipping would be the least of my worries on a model costing USD $795 :D

Maybe so... regardless I'm pointing out that even 795.00 is not the real cost, it's at least $895.00

Brad:

Send e-mail to Fannie Luk through KC Website. No response as of yet. I wish she would confirm (or unconfirm) my 2 Storch orders.
