The Elastolin castle display is really neat; it is enclosed, so I am wondering if it might not have originally been from a dealer. Maybe there should be 300, but I am pretty impressed with the 100 he did make. He bought another phalanx at the West Coaster which he took up north. I'll take some photos of it at his next Open House in November. My recollection is that his is superior to it.

Heraldic shields Bob is in the process of adding to the ceiling rafters. Uniform and castle in the printer room. Some of the attendees. In the fourth photo, Bob (far left) is trying to eat more shrimp than me; my wife Jean, who I met almost 50 years ago in September 1964 in French I class at Cerritos College. The fifth photo shows Gus Ramos, standing, who is a toy soldier collector and a member of the MG Club.

Those of you who attended last month's West Coaster, may have seen King & Country's Crimean War Russian Gun diorama. Here it is now as a part of Bob's collection. Normally, I never question Bob's display ideas, but I told him that I thought the diorama looked better from the perspective of inside the fort rather than outside it. He finally agreed and turned it around as far as it would go given space limitations inside the cabinet, so that you can now see most of the detail from inside the fort.

Two Hiriart special commission sets of the Imperial Russian Grodno Hussars: a nine figure band with drum horse and a double set of Hussars. BTW, Bob always adds pink cheeks to his Hiriart figures---they don't come that way. I prefer them the way they originally come from Guillermo; otherwise, they are too toy-like for my collecting tastes.

Bob's own castings and painted Imperial Russian Cossack Guards with a brick fort backdrop and Russian regiment (I forgot which one) route liners made of paper.

Dear Bob and Team,

Very nice pictures and collection.....My question goes to the group and eventually ask if the same has been asked to the K&C Team at th West Coaster event.....
Very nice rampart and fort details to add to the recent Crimean War Russian fortress gun and garrrison....but is K&C going to offer us collectors a similar Dio as Bob´s ?? It would be a pitty if they did not..after all they supply the gun and the stone floor{sm3}{sm3}{sm3}
Cheers

Most of the time, the dioramas that Andy brings to the West Coaster are one-of-a-kinds. It is my impression that this is the case with the Crimean War diorama, too. When I spoke to Andy about this particular diorama, I discovered that it had not been built specifically to order for a collector, but was available for sale to anyone. Upon hearing this, I ran over and grabbed Bob and brought him back to speak to Andy. The rest is history. It was not inexpensive; it was certainly too rich for my blood.

Hi Mike,
Thanks a lot for the prompt response and clear details. It is unfortunate if K&C does not come up with a set of ramparts, for them I ask why provide the stone flooring{sm2}{sm2}for sure its a half breed deal....for that means that you either have to build your own rampart ( get someone that has the skills to ) or you are stuck with a Dio that is not a Dio.....{sm4}{sm4}{sm4}
Once again thanks for the note.
Cheers

You're welcome. With respect to your PM, I don't know who made them, but I will ask Ed the next time I speak to him and will get back to you.

Mike

Although these last photos are not the latest additions to Bob's collection, I thought you might like to see the rest of the photos of the MGs.

Last Saturday, several of us met at Bob's house to distribute the latest Hiriart delivery to southern California based collectors. These get togethers give me the opportunity to check out the latest editions to his collection. Here are some Britains blanks that were painted for Bob by Gus Ramos.

I am not sure whose marching figures these are, but Gus thought that they might be Haffner. If so, that would be one heck of a pick up for Bob.

These are Berlin Zinnfiguren flats that I gave Bob for his birthday in April. There are 24 figures in the set, so not all are shown.

Here are some French themed sets/pieces that may or may not be new, but which I don't believe I have photographed before, including the mounted Lucotte officers in the third photo.
