Lattest Additions to Bob's Collection (1 Viewer)

Although these last photos are not the latest additions to Bob's collection, I thought you might like to see the rest of the photos of the MGs.

Ok. So if we collect enough toy soldiers we will eventually end up with a collectible car? If so my wife will be really excited! Thanks,Dan.

Nice thought Dan, but I wouldn't count on it. In any case, none of those cars are Bob's.

My wife and I had dinner Wednesday night with Bob and his mother and I saw these two new additions to his collection. They are all-wood castles made in Austria. One is from Ed Ruby and the other is from Bob Phillips. There are actually parts of a third castle which includes the three buildings shown in front of the castle on the right in the third photo. The use of the bark wood on the bases is unusual.

The toy soldier parade on Bob's kitchen table continues to grow in size. A rare Britains set of the Bahamas Police band followed by a Royal Navy Landing Party set from Hiriart. Hey, where are they going to service Thanksgiving dinner?

They are very impressive. Did you notice the clocks on each castle which is the manufacturer's way of distinguishing their product? I also like the painted climbing roses (?) detail on each castle.

I spotted these Middle Eastern figures on a book shelf.

This Saturday, February 20th, 2016 we met at Bob's house to distribute the latest sets in the February Hiriart delivery. These regular Hiriart get togethers give me the opportunity to look over what Bob has added to his collection since my last visit. At the last Old Toy Soldier auction, Bob bid on and won multiple lots and was able to put together a fabulous Beau Geste Dehli Durbar procession with eight elephants and add-on parade sets. They are on display in his living room on a lamp table. NB: His northern California collection has an another 19 Durbar elephants from various makers on display.

Great pieces!

A formidable bidding opponent, I'd say. It is a good thing we are friends. Did you win any of the Beau Geste Durbar sets you were bidding on? What a colorful, spectacular display they make. It would have been a shame to have split them up among several bidders.

Zach, if you ever plan on visiting the Los Angeles area in the future and would like to see Bob's collection, let me know and I will arrange it for you, if you are interested.

Mike
