Lawrence is here . (1 Viewer)

That is one of the best camels I have seen actually! Does anyone know if I can find a way to incorporate it into Sudan?

Dear Gunn Club,

Exciting news!

I have been informed by our factory today that the first of our new WW1 series will be ready earlier than expected and some of the new line will now be ready in time for early December. Samples will be on display and for sale at the London fair for those of you attending in December but not before then.
As a little taster I am including a picture of one of my all time heroes, Lawrence of Arabia who will be the forerunner of our new 1/30th scale WW1 series. There will be 200 of this version available with a Turkish officer and 100 available with a German officer from the Pascha Expedition surrendering to Lawrence. I have centred this first release around the battle of Tafas. For those of you who remember the 1962 film this is where Lawrence's Arab forces set upon a Turkish column withdrawing from Tafas with the order "no prisoners!"
Some 250 Turkish and Germans did surrender once they realize the battle was lost, however they were all massacred supposedly on Lawrence's orders. Jackson Bentley the famous news reporter arrived on the scene to witness the carnage and said to Lawrence "Oh, you rotten man. Let me take your rotten bloody picture......for the rotten, bloody newspapers!"
More pictures available on the website by clicking on the following link: http://www.tomgunn.co.uk/toy-soldiers/workshop.html

The Germans sent approx 12,000 troops to the Middle East during WW1 with over half becoming casualties - certainly no sunshine posting! These were the forerunner of the WW2 Afrika Korps although for some reason their contribution has been largely ignored by history. We will certainly be adding more Tropical Germans to our series along with some Western Front Germans later on next year.

Second piece of news is a picture of a figure from NAPS002 which will also be posted on Facebook today with other views of this sculpt also available. NAPS001 will be on show at London and so far as I know is a unique piece in 1/30th collecting - I could be wrong of course!

Last piece of news is that Russian front was the winner in our recent survey for most requested new line followed by WW2 Far East and in 3rd place was French Foreign Legion! Hopefully we will see all of these in limited numbers next year - watch this space for news.

Once again thank you for your support and please feel free to drop me an email with regards to queries on any of the above news.

Kind Regards Tom

I'm thinking of buying it...till now i resisted the lure of the Australian Light Horse range (a collection including horses is really expensive)..different would be if we could have the Gallipoli infantrymen (australian etc.)..but now i think i'll buy a piece or two..starting from some Turk..i hope only one thing..i bought the beautiful made Lawrence of Arabia at the Damasco peace talkings(K&C collector's club)..and whe he popped out of the box i was amazed at how short the figure was..then i took a book..and i found out that the Man was really short!!!:)We are influenced from the tall and lean figure of Peter O'toole!!!I hope that the figure on the camel is short too...but nonetheless is a beautiful figure and pose!!!!

Outstanding figure. Looks very nice and very detailed

Really nice Lawrence of Arabia figure^&cool
I also like the look of the gunner figure for the new Naps line ^&cool. Can't wait to see it painted.
I wonder what the other gun crew members will look like and will there be a cannon or could it be a congreve rocket launcher or a howitzer {sm3} .

I believe too is a Congreve rocket launcher..it's something never done...!

Read the e-mail from TG this am. The Lawrence figure is a beaut. Will be a great introduction to a great new series. Now for the AC's along with him.:wink2: -- Al

Although WWI is not my kettle of fish I must admit that it is a beautiful figure.

Paul,

like you I can't wait to see the gunner painted, and to find out waht the other figure will be.

Seeing that he's in Royal Horse Artillery dress, I wouldn't think that he would be firing a Mortar or Howitzer, as they would be too heavy and big for the light artillery to transport and were manned by the Royal Artillery.

He also is holding a long straight 'stick' in his hand, so it could be a fire lighter, therefore your assumption about a Congreve Rocket could be correct!

The Rocket Troop wore HRA uniform, and were mounted, so we should only have a couple of weeks to wait until the other guy to 'report for inspection' at the London Toy Soldier.

It will be interesting to see what 'contraption' will made for the rockets, becuse the only ones I know of are from Frontline

Note that the gunner firing the rocket, is carrying a similar 'firing stick' to the TG Gunner,

and this from Alexanders Toy Soldiers
