Lead Army is back in action. It was bought by someone who actually wants to sell figures. They are available from Crown Military Miniatures. Nicholas Cameron is great to deal with! Here is the website if you want to purchase (note: I have no financial interest in this. I just like the figures and love dealing with Nicholas) http://www.crowntoysoldiers.com/Pages/LeadArmyRussianFigures.aspx

Here are my first two purchases. They are:

Nicholas II (5810) and Alexandra (5811)

That's a little offsides, Zach. Sergei "actually wants to sell figures" and he is a regular vendor at many shows here in the States. In fact, he may be at Bil Lango's show next Sunday.

Brad,

Can you explain this to someone not in the know. Does Sergei still own Lead Army or he sold out and is now starting a different venture.

Brad

Anyway, interesting figures. If they made personalities like Foreign Minister Sazonov or General Sukhomlinov or German personalities, I might be interested. However, Nicholas might be a possibility for my WW I collection.

My apologies.
It's just that I've tried to contact them numerous times and could never get in touch to order them.
Didn't mean to offend anyone. I am just glad that I can get a hold of the figures now

I looked at their website and as far as WW I and pre-war goes, it doesn't list the items shown on Crown's website although it does have a couple of German figures. Moreover, the figures don't seem as good as AeroArt's.

I think overall I like AeroArt better, but Lead Army does some random figures that AeroArt doesn't. I just got some Russian White Army figures that are pretty cool. I'll post some photos soon

I agree. I like their Teutonic crusaders a lot, but they are not quite on the level of Aeroart. That quality difference in my opinion is not fully reflected in their price unfortunately. I buy because of the subject matter, not because the figures are well priced. Sorry.

They did seem a little expensive compared to AeroArt.

Here are more Lead Army figures that i picked up from Crown Military Miniatures. I really like these guys

They are the Russian White Guard from 1920. These are five individual figures, not a set

Sorry for the late reply, Brad!

I don't know, but as far as I know, he's still trading as Lead Army. I suspect that he may have made an arrangement with Nicholas to handle the mail order side of things. I do concede, Sergei could be hard to get a hold of, through mail and email, but he's always visible at the shows. I'll talk to him tomorrow.

Remember, too, that he doesn't produce these figures--he's an agent, in the same way that Thor is. Sergei sells figures from various makers (studios), but he's not sculpting, casting and painting, as far as I know. And along with the connoisseur grade figures, he's had various figures in toy soldier style, too, from various makers.

And he's a new dad, too (in the past year, their second child, I think).

See everyone at the show tomorrow, prosit!

No problem Brad. Didn't realize he was an agent like Thor. See you tomorrow.

Brad,
Thor is no longer an "agent". In the past he used to distribute figures from a variety of Russian studios along with selling his own figures. All of the new figures he sells now are solely his own. Hope this helps clarify.

I'm hoping that Crown stocks Byzantine Emperor Heraclius. Lead Army in Gettysburg had it on their website.

Nicholas bought Lead Army. Sergei is going to help out the transition. Nicholas said they are going to be expanding many of the lines. I am not sure if the Byzantines are one of them.

Hi folks...I hope I can clarify some of the confusion regarding Lead Army. With several new responsibilities, Sergei felt it was time to step back from Lead Army and hoped that Crown Miniatures would be willing to move his efforts over the years forward and continue to provide collectors with a variety of Russian figures.

As Zach mentioned, Sergei is working with Crown as we make the transition and determine what tweaks are required to bring more exciting figures to market.

With that said, many of Lead Army's previous repertoire of figures will be retained, and a few will be retired. What we would really like to see happen as we come into the new year is development and expansion of the current ranges and the introduction of a couple of new ranges...overall, quite a few more figures.

Over the next couple of months, you may see figures come and go from our website, but we will post some announcements as new figures are introduced.

Regardless of which brands you may favor (for whatever reasons), my feeling is that greater variety in the marketplace generates creative alternatives and keeps pricing competitive, and this is good for everyone. I look forward to contributing to that process. I hope this helps.

Sergey is my friend. Our studio cooperated with Lead Army for a long time, until Sergei went out of business.
We are inviting you to visit our new website https://russoldier.art

Nice site! Will be reviewing in time

Thank you for the link. I have some St George's Cross castings that I bought years ago and they are very nice indeed. The ones you have on your website are ALL the genuine article, yes? I'm trying to avoid the recasts sold by EK Castings and tons of people on ebay.

Joe, my understanding is this is the original studio that painted for Sergei and Nick under the label Lead Army
