Hi Guys,

Here is a compact little (actually not so little) diorama (24”x20”) which we designed and had built for one of our very good collectors.

The gentleman concerned wanted a “Normandy Street Scene” circa June 1944 and we were very happy to comply.

Our friend David Marshall did all the basic construction from our drawings and design then Gordon and yours truly added some additional detail and touches.

Hope you like it…

Best wishes and happy collecting,
Andy

So many great things to look at; so many wonderful ideas shown here... ^&grin
Is the furniture home made or possibly a (doll house) scale... works perfectly.

All of your guy's diorama's are inspirations to the collecting community ... THANK YOU for that!!!!

Another beauty added to the endless list of fantastic dioramas! The details are amazing as well of the tremendous variety of scenes that may be set on it!

I too want to know where the furniture comes from. What scale? You guys always do great settings.

Matthew

Simply amazing as always-would love to have something like that in my collection :salute::

Looks fantastic.
Furniture can't be "doll house size" which usually is 1/12 scale.

Like toy soldiers, I believe that there are a few various DOLL HOUSE scales.

There was a Doll House museum in Lancaster, Mass where I lived that was one of the best in the world.
Owned and operated by a Mr. Herb Hosner, he had quite a huge collection of Antique and modern doll houses. There were many scales, but I am not sure if they were "one-offs" or some standard.

Also, if you search Bing/ Google with "Dollhouse furniture scale" you will see there are 9 - 10 current different scales.

Also search for Herb Hosmer to see his museum in Mass.

Fantastic dio!! I love it. It's a great design and would be so much fun to play with because there are so many places to put figures. The furniture adds a nice touch to the open interiors. Where did you find just the right size furniture?
Thanks for sharing the great pics of this wonderful creation-

Hi Joe,
thankyou for the kind and appreciative words...Re the 'Toy Soldier Scale' furniture and fittings...They came from a number of different sources...as follows;
1. A Doll's House Store that used to be in business across from K&C cofounder Laura Johnson's office in San Antonio...Alas, now closed.
2. Various 'Hobby Lobby' outlets around San Antonio and
3. A great little, old-style Toy Shop in Paris in 'Passage Jouffrey'.
Additionally, 'Michael's' Hobby Stores sometimes have suitable furniture and fittings to suit 1:30 scale soldiers and displays.

Hope this helps and inspires,
Andy.

Andy,
You're very welcome and thank you for the informative response and again for sharing the fantastic dio. A very luck collector will surely be cherishing this for years to come.
Yes, inspirational indeed! :smile2:
Joe
