Brian,
Great angle! Looks like you're gathering the buildings for something
What could it be?
Mike
Think Brian will give us a hint or two with his next photo or two my Aide de Camp. Nice addition to your Land of the Zulus Brian and my the way the ammo did get to the rankers on the line...The Lt.
My der Lordship. If you please, allow me to show the naval version of the Cutlass bayonet 1871 pattern.
Notice the cutlass bayonet on the Martini-Henry rifle on this dead rating from the RN's Naval Brigade. The cutlass bayonet was special to the RN in that it was both a reliable cutlass sword, as well as a detachable bayonet. Thanks Mike for including this detail!

Mike,
Thanks for posting the image of this very interesting LL figure.
...a cutlass sword that can double up as a detachable bayonet on a Martini-Henri rifle...
Is this a customised figure/weapon by LL?
Raymond.
Raymond,
You're mor than welcome! LL has this figure in it's catalog, I think

Mike,
Your excellent photograph is good for me.
So, I shall not bother to look at the LL catalog.
The photographs therein tend to strain by presbyopic eyes.
Thanks, Raymond.
