A few quick shots of the London Toy Soldier Show - new WB's AZW, TG vehicle and mounted Germans, Little Legion boats and AZW, some bloke in Green for Bill, bloody big tank from KC and JJ new releases.
More to follow but off to pub to watch fottie England v Wales
Okay back from the pub – England beat Wales 2-0 great result; but we will not mention the cricket !!!
The London Show felt less busy today than previous shows – I based this scientifically … on how many rug sacks you get whacked with as you walk through the show !!! There was a demo in London – maybe that put some off. The one thing I did notice was there were a large amount of younger collectors and children – which is great to see for the future of the hobby and hats off to KC UK (who organize the show) for allowing U14 in free.
Many of the products at the Westcoaster such as KC Napoleonic’s in Egypt and NW Frontier were not displayed; or JJD latest plane. However, WB’s had their 2011 releases on display which looked great and also TGunns new offerings. One of the things I also like about the show is that it is not just about the big companies – there is a huge range of dealers and offerings to be seen.
First off KC – and a few shots. It was the first time I had seen the ME 262 and it looks very good, is very large and was free standing. The Jadgtiger is simply huge. The snow Tiger looked good but I thought the colours of the Grant were too bright. Then I looked at the Crusaders – okay but I prefer the FL ones I have. The camels though look far better in person than official shots I had seen. I did pick up the desert well and a couple of Napoleonic’s to add to my firing line.
Then we have British Toy Soldier Company – they had a couple of very impressive looking boats / dhows, a great deal of ceremonial troops and the ones I liked were the WWI marching troops.
Then WB 2011 offerings. I thought the AZW artillery were great; the poses are very good and the detailing on the canon very good. I have pre-ordered the water cart to add to my Rorke’s Drift diorama. The other great set was the modern British stretched bearer set with for HFH; I thought it looked far better than the catalogue pictures. Then there were the Dragoons and a few of the other offerings.
JG Miniatures had some new mats – a cross roads, a new grass and mud mat which looked very good and would ensure that figures would stay upright, and a river mat. Also they have some imitation sand which is useful as it is made from plastic and so will not damage the paint on figures. I picked up some a desert mat, palm tree and some ammo boxes / barrels.
New T.Gunn sets looked very good indeed; the new vehicle looked impressive and the cavalry. The German winter trooper patting the horse looked very good and is my favourite. UK price may be c.55 so a great price too. No Naps yet though. Oh a naughty forties.
Figarti train set and gun still looks impressive when you see it again; amazing set. The soldiers work really well with the train set; though personally I do not like them much as they do not match their tanks which I have and are fab. I liked the D-Day dio – it looked good.
FL Crusaders are great – got a few more so will post my pictures of them over the weekend. Liked the artillery gun and also the German in winter clothing.
