Looking for FOV 81007 Sherman (8 Viewers)

And now let that hollow, empty, lost, and in need of something more feeling begin:(

Ah, but there is relief:) Soon FOV will release more issues and perhaps, just maybe, you will find another subject to begin collecting  That need to find more will begin to fill the void; maybe;)

I know what you’re saying, sceic2. That gnawing in your stomach, that reckless obsession that drives you headlong into mania. Yea, I’ve been there. Done that.

But I’ve got to stomp on the breaks before I plunge over the precipice. For now, anyway, this will have to be my last purchase. I smashed my piggy bank long ago, and their ain’t no mo money.

Still, the adventure was grand. Now I own nearly the entire FOV 1/32 AFV collection, and I’m darned proud of it.

Turns out the site I purchased that Sherman from mistakenly listed it as an 81007. Turns out it’s an 81207. The thing's on its way across the Atlantic, and there’s nothing I can do to stop it. I’m screwed. I’ve already got the 81207.

Looks like I’m still on the hunt for the 81007.

There's purpose to your life once more!

It wouldn't be as much fun if there wasn't at least one thing outstanding from your collection.

Good hunting.

Cheers treadhead:

I hope that they are going to do something for you in light of that unfortunate error as you should not be expected to purchase it? In any case, best of luck with the continuing hunt. I think you should take up the other forum members kind offer to ask as a shipping liason & put an end to this "mission".

Beaufighter

Is this becoming the Holy Grail of FOV collecting? Is it a really rare piece?
I'm starting to wish I hadn't trashed all the boxes now!

In the lexicon of FOV collecting, Easy, you could catagorize this particular model as ‘Super Rare.’

I’ve look high and low, this way, that way and every way. And I still can’t find it. And this coming from a guy who prides himself on finding practically anything on the net.

Yea, if you’ve got a MIMB FOV 81007 Sherman, you’ve got something impossible to find. It’s a keeper! :D

Hey Treadhead I'm glad you arrived on this forum cause you've shaken some life into the FOV section and I'm a massive FOV fan.
Do you get all the modern stuff too as well as the WW2 vehicles?
I have a few of the newer ones like the Abrams, and my favourite the Chally2 just for the sheer size of it as well as it's coolness! I read somewhere that the Challenger 2 has the record for the longest distance confirmed kill back in the Gulf War.

Back on topic do you collelct the FOV diorama series as well? They can be expensive but If you can get them for a good price I recommend you do so as the backgrounds and accessories are pretty cool and the vehicles have really nice paint jobs on them. especially the Tiger, King Tiger and Stug.

Treadhead, there are a few of us Treefrog members that have a number of FOV vehicles but you seem to be our new resident expert on them.

From what you say, 81007 is hard to get. Can you tell us what other FOV 1/32 items are rare these days. I have about 20 of the original 1/32 FOV vehicles and have never thought of them being of much value other than being nice to look at.

When you think of it the boxes for these pieces will be rare as most of us just threw the boxes away. But believe me, after I had lost my temper with those notorious FOV wire ties and blister packed accessories there wasn't much left of the boxes anyway :)

I think maybe the original zundapp is hard to get hold of. Maybe the original Pershing too.
Probably quite a few from the first and second wave are hard to find now.

Easy, yeah ... I collect WWII and Modern. Mostly the enthusiast series, though I own a couple of action series models, too. Love ‘em all.

As for the dioramas, I’d just love to buy those, too; but I concentrated on single FOV models, which kind of whopped my money supply right on the nose. (It’s too easy to go bankrupt if you don’t watch your spending.)

From my recent experience, Oz, the following 1/32 FOV armor models are hard-to-find or impossible-to-find ...

80001 - German King Tiger - Normandy 1944. Getting harder to find. Not impossible.

80201 - German King Tiger – Germany 1944. Getting tougher all the time. You'll have to dig on eBay and elsewhere to find one.

80301 - German King Tiger – France 1944. Tough to find. You'll have to dig for it.

80004 - German Tiger I - Normandy 1944. Very hard to find. Maybe impossible. Check eBay.

80204 - German Tiger I - Eastern Front. Sold out. Good luck trying to locate this one.

80304 - German Tiger - Eastern Front 1944. Sold out. Very, very hard to find. Check eBay.

80026 - German Panther Ausf.G - Germany 1944. Extremely hard to find. Check eBay.

81002 - U.S. M1036 HUMVEE Desert Storm (tan). Extremely hard to find. Might prove impossible.

81003 - U.S. M16 Multiple Gun Motor Carriage - Normandy. Extremely hard to find. You’ll really have to dig for this one. Might prove impossible.

81007 - U.S. M4A3 Sherman - Normandy. Sold out. Can’t find anywhere. Good luck.

81010 - German Sd. Kfz.251/1 Hanomag - Kursk 1943. Sold out. Good luck.

81011 - U.K. M3 Grant - North Africa. Sold out. Impossible to find.

81203 - U.S. M16 Multiple Gun Motor Carriage - Battle of the Bulge. Extremely hard to find. You’ll have to dig for this one.

81207 - U.S. M4A3 Sherman - Bastogne 1945. Sold out. Good luck.

81210 - German Sd. Kfz.251/9 Kanonenwagen - Normandy 1944. Sold out. Good luck.

81501 - German Sd. Kfz. 251/9 Kanonenwagen - Hungary 1945. Getting very hard to find. Check eBay.

81310 - German Sd. Kfz.251/1 Hanomag - Normandy 1944. Sold out. Good luck.

80018 - Russian T34/85 - Eastern Front 1945 (green). Sold out. If anybody wants one, I know a store in Canada that still has it in stock. Otherwise, you can’t find it anywhere on planet earth.

80218 - Russian T34/85 - Eastern Front 1944 (white winter camo). Getting extremely hard to find.

81014 - US M3A1 Half Track - Normandy 1944. Very, very hard to find. You’ll have to dig to get this one.

81302 - U.S. M1036 HUMVEE Operation Iraqi Freedom (green/brown camo). Extremely difficult to find. Might prove impossible.

82003 - U.S. Jeep, Willys, Overland - Normandy. Very hard to find. You’ll have to dig for this one. Try eBay.

82005 - German Kubelwagen Mk 82- Normandy (panzer gray). Very hard to find. Might prove impossible.

82006 - German KS 750 Zundapp Sidecar- Russian Front (panzer gray) . Sold out. Impossible to find.

90022 - U.S. M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System (green/brown camo). Sold out. Impossible to find.

For the sold-out types, I had to hunt absolutely EVERYWHERE to locate them; in several cases I bought the last available one. But that doesn’t mean they won’t show up on eBay somewhere along the line: I’ve still got my fingers crossed that I’ll find the 81007 Sherman. Also, if you've got a good model shop nearby, check them out. You never know if they have exactly what you're looking for sitting on a dusty shelf in their stock room. I actually found a RARE, impossible-to-find Corgi 1/72 Lancaster set that way.

If I can help further, let me know!

Hope this helps!

What a fantastic list. My favourite line is the T34 that can't be found on planet earth! :D

How did you find getting the original Pershing? I thougt that might be a tough one.
I also never saw ever the Tiger I with the charging knight emblem.

How about the original Jagdpanther? And Panzer IV's ausf F and G.

The list could go on and on. :)

In fact it would be interesting to know how many different vehicles and paint schemes have been produced.

That was a pretty good list. I would have to agree that most of them will be hard to find. I do have a few of them in stock.

81002 Humvee - Just one left This has been soldout for a while. I just found this one.

80301 King Tiger

81203 US M16 multiple gun motor carriage

Mikes Tanks is a good place to find information about old releases. They cover just about everything. Here is a link to their page.

I have been trying to get a full list of the retired items on my website but I haven't found the time yet. Have to keep working on it.

Thanks
Ronnie

You can still find the Pershing, plus the Panzers you mentioned, Easy. Just go to Goggle, write something like “Forces of Valor 80016 U.S. M26 Pershing,” and see where it takes you. Right now (as we speak) you can buy this little honey for $29.00 (USD). http://cgi.ebay.com/Forces-of-Valor-US-M26-PERSHING-Germany-1945-80016_W0QQitemZ130061688459QQcmdZViewItem

I’ve done business with these folks, and they’re first rate. They ship to England, too. (Admin: Hope I'm allowed to post a link like this. If not, forgive me. No harm meant.)

I have the Pershing already. I just remember that at one point it was pretty hard to find.
Do you have a favourite vehicle by the way? I rather like the hanomags and the Panzer IV tanks.

Actually, Easy, I’ve got so many FOV favorites it’s impossible to pick just one. Honestly, these models are fabulous.

This is great stuff to know. Considering I have been a retailer of this line since the begining, I never would have thought any of them would be considered rare or impossible to find.

If you guys have specific wants, please let me know as I know a couple of East Coast dealers who bought boatloads of the first and second waves of FOV and could be sitting on several of these models for short money. I will see both of them at an upcoming show I am attending, so let me know.

Funny to think how when I first started carrying this range, I had loads of the sku's on your list and it never ever crossed my mind to squirrel some of them away. You just never know in this hobby.

Warrior,

I’d really appreciate it if you’d ask around for a FOV 1/32 81007 Sherman. If they’ve got one, or if you can get one, by all means let me know.

treadhead,

Good luck in your quest. It's hard to believe that Sherman is hard to find but I guess that's what happens with the magic of retiremement.

The Pershing is one my favorites too. I wish one of the other companies (Figarti, HB, KC, etc.) would produced it but I understand why they don't since it only served in the last few months of the WWII.

Carlos
