Inconvenient truth.

The European SS troops on the Leningrad front.

The Leningrad direction at the beginning of the war was a priority for the Wehrmacht and considerable forces were allocated to it.
After the city was taken into a blockade ring and the siege was established the German elite units were replaced with Wehrmacht and SS units whose personnel was represented by fighters from European countries.

Durring the Staro-Panovskaya operation it was believed that part of the 58th Infantry Division was opposed to Soviet troops, but in fact, this division was transferred to another sector and the Ekkeln’s group took its place.

The chief of the general staff Franz Halder mentions in his diaries (the record is dated July 20, 42).
“the Eckeln’s group was formed from units of the 2nd SS brigade and consisted of two battalions (19th and 21st) of auxiliary Latvian police and three SS legions: Dutch (SS-Freiwilligen-Legion “Niederlande”), Belgian (SS-Freiwilligen -Legion "Flandern") and Norwegian (SS-Freiwilligen-Legion "Norwegen"), and roughly equal in strength to the brigade".

In the 1942-1943 the famous Spanish “Blue Division” occupied positions in the Pushkin-Kolpino-Krasny Bor area near Leningrad. In the division apart from the Spaniards was aroud a thousand Portuguese soldiers.
The legion of the Netherlands, served as the nucleus for the formation of the 4th SS brigade of the Netherlands (4.SS-Frewilligen-Panzergrenadier-Brigade "Nederland"), which at the end of the 43rd year returned to Leningrad as part of the 3rd tank SS corps.

The 3rd tank SS corps also included the 11th SS Division “Nordland”. 11.SS Freiwilliegen-Panzergrenadier Division “Nordland” was formed from three volunteer SS legions: “Denmark”, "Norway" and "Finland". In addition to the representatives of the Scandinavian peoples there were ethnic Germans from Croatia and even Croats who had some German roots.

During the Krasnoselsko-Ropshinsky operation “January Thunder” the siege of Leningrad was lifted and the 3rd Panzer Corps with the Nordland division and the Netherlands brigade retreated to Narva.

European historians call the Battle of the European SS.” the fighting in the Narva area in the spring and the summer of 1944,

The 20th SS Division (20.Waffen-Grenadier-Division der SS) what actualy was the 1st Estonian (Estnische Nr. 1) division was fighting directly in the Narva area,. The division was formed from the Volunteer Estonian SS Legion (Estnische SS-Freiwilligen-Legion) and was created in the 1942. In 1944 the 3rd Estonian SS brigade (3.Estnische SS-Freiwilligen Brigade) including the battalion “Narva”, formerly part of the SS Viking division was used against partisans in Belarus.

Two Latvian divisions hold defense against Red Army at the Velikaya River.
The 15th Grenadier Division of the SS Forces (15.Waffen-Grenadier-Division der SS) or the Latvian Division No. 1 (Lettische Nr.1) was created from the 2nd SS motorized infantry brigade. In the 1942 the 2nd SS motorized infantry brigade included two Latvian police battalions. Subsequently, the number of Latvian battalions was increased and the Latvian Volunteer Brigade was formed. Later the Brigade was deployed to the 15th SS Division.

At the same time, the 2nd Latvian Volunteer Brigade was included into the 18th Army. The brigade fought south of Leningrad. At the beginning of the 1944 the brigade was transformed to the 19th SS division (19.Waffen-Grenadier-Division der SS) or the Latvian division No. 2 (lettische Nr.2).
The already mentioned Flemish SS Legion was used to create the 6th SS Langemak assault brigade (6. SS Freiwilligen-Sturmbrigade "Langemarck") in 1943.

The Belgian Flemings did fight side by side with the Belgian Walloons from the 5th assault brigade SS “Wallonia” (5.SS Freiwilligen Sturmbrigade Wallonien) and was a part of the Army Group North.

Please note:

The siege of Leningrad an estimated 800.000 women, children and pensioners killed and starved to the death — nearly as many as all the World War II deaths of the United States and the United Kingdom combined.

On the other hand, crimes against the civilians were punished in the wehrmacht and even in the waffen ss( apart limited units like "Dirlewangen" who was accused and deprecated by the same ss coleagues!). Of course, the soviets won, and no sovietic criminals, only heros!{sm4}

So please provide the facts or stay quiet.

I have compassion and pity for you...

Look man it is simple.

If you want to prove something you have to provide the oficial facts and not a belletristic poem.
Please see my post about the Beria’s note and you would know how the fact should looks like.

Cheers.
Tank.

Stalin was an enlightened, Molotov a buddist monk, Jagoda a mystic yogi, and the Lubjanka a famous 4 stars hotel in Moscow.
