Certainly sad news.

Lets hope his buddies from Easy Company are welcoming him home!

Certainly was a great leader of men. Today he is able to greet a lot of those men, ones he hasn't seen in a long while.

He was among the greatest of the greatest generation, and he, like all of his contemporaries, will be sorely missed. Thank you again Major Winters.

Fine leaders of men who care for the welfare of their troops are hard to come by. This man led by example. A sad loss for the US of A.
As an old soldier, I salute you Sir.
Condolences, Howard

Rest assured, the men are in formation and double timin' up Currahee Mountain right now-

3 UP 3 DOWN!!

STANDS ALONE SIR!!

Well said Chris. Other than my family/parents, that man as well as any of our veterans are my heroes. Years ago, when asked in an interview what individual from history would I have liked to have met the response was simple...Major Dick Winters!

Hang Tough Indeed,
Marc

I have done a lot of reading here today on the man. Retired when he was 79- man, I can't fathom that. My work ethic is significantly less than that.

Interesting to read he was nominated for the Congressional regarding his efforts at Brecourt Manor but was declined due to the limit of one award per division. I guess that helped to keep the magnitude of the award high but still. I dunno, I think it was an excellent company effort-which he played a major part to say the least- CMoH worthy, not sure.

Very sad passing of a great soldier. Strange the death notice of 2 Jan did not make the papers until today.

It was a thrill to meet 4 of the original BoB members a couple of years ago.

it was a private funeral and he didn't want anyone to know till after he was buried, which is why the delay.

Only just found out, what a sad day the loss of a truly great person, RIP soldier.

My work ethic is way less then yours,,Chris. The Ranks are thinning.I hope he approved of his portrayal in B.O.B.

He was a one of a kind leader that served with honor and responsiblity. No one will forget Winters. The torch has been passed. RIP Winter :(
