Make offers topic! (2 Viewers)

Stan and Treefrog do have a standing agreement regarding classifieds on the forum and you will notice that the items he offers are not found on the Treefrog website.

One of the great things about the Treefrog Treasures forum is being able to find that hard-to-find item you've been searching through the collector classifieds or eBay listings. We have always worked hard to make the forum more than just an extension of the Treefrog store but instead a global meeting place for all toy soldier collectors.

While we prefer that people not post links to competitors' sales or promotions that would directly compete with Treefrog Treasures, we are fine with items not listed for sale on our website being offered. We expect (and appreciate) that dealers will contact us beforehand and ask permission to do so first, just as Stan did.
Best regards,

I think this should be the final word on this.
Mark

I am going to put in my two cents on this as well. Stan has been great, with prices, shipping and in general trying to assist sellers with their products and get them sold asap. Guys like Stan and his shop is what keeps the collecting business going and he is a "Good Guy". Kept up the good work Stan

Fellow Tree Froggers - This will be my final comment on this subject.

First - I would like to thank Shannon and Peter for being so gracious to allow me to make my posts on their site. The response from collectors and Forum readers has been in the greatest majority - very positive. Multiple posts by the same few detractors still did not dissuade the majority from making their thoughts and support known. Thank-you.

Second - I would like to apologize to them and you for having brought on all these negative vibes. That certainly was not my intent. The Toy Soldier business is NOT a major profit center for me. I started it several years ago and continue to do it because I enjoy the hobby and the MANY nice people I have met through my involvement with it. Anyone in the retail business knows that if you try to keep up with most current/new releases in ANY product field - you - by the pure nature of it are constantly building inventory (unintentionally) and lots of it does not sell. At some point you need to sell that inventory otherwise you would need a warehouse to store it in. Comments made using the words "desparate", "bankrupt" and " out of business" were completely out of line and indicate the writers comlpete lack of knowledge of anything about me or my operation. If and when I decide to go out of business - it will be because I decide to and no other reason. I forgive the ignorance of those remarks.

Third - I would like to thank all the Tree Frog members that have supported me with both orders and words of encouragement. YOU are all the ones that make this a great and fun hobby and I look forward to many more years of a satisfying and fun relationship.

Last but not least - I also hope and ask that everyone support TREE FROG TREASURES SHOP whenever possible. They are fine people and run a very friendly and professional operation. All of my purchases from them have been problem free and they are a pleasure to deal with. They also provide an invaluable service to the hobby and deserve a lot more recognition and appreciation for doing so. My thanks again to Peter and Shannon and the TREE FROG staff.

Thanks again for your support and hopefully everyone can move forward and forget this unfortunate debate.

Best regards

I once made a negative comment concerning Stan having to many offers on this Net. His reply was superb, and I immediately retracted what I said. Stan is there to help collectors and provide a valuable service. I hope to visit his shop soon as I live just down the road in Mt. Vernon, Va. Regards, Larry.

OK Guys - Here is my response to your remarks and comments.

1). I do not post items for sale that Pete and Shannon have for sale on their website.

2). My arrangement with them is between us and if they are upset with me for any reason - I am sure they will let me know.

3). For those of you who have been in the shop in Gettysburg, you know that I am completely full and have no room to put the new items as they are released. I am not desparate at all. And not that it is anyone's business or need to know but a large percentage of my revenue goes to my favorite charities (all Wounded Warrior and Veteran related).

4). In my classified ads I list the prices. I do not play games. In the case of the "make offer" ads. I have accepted almost all of the offers received except for the ridiculously low ones.

5). I appreciate the MANY orders and the MANY fellow Tree Froggers that have made purchases from me and most have indicated that they are very happy to be able to purchase these retired/sold out items. I also appreciate the kind comments made on Tree Frog.

6). For those of you that do not like me or my techniques - I am sorry but there is little I can do about that. If you dont like the ads - please don't look at them - you have apparently already decided not to purchase from me.

7). Thanks to those of you who have supported me and to the rest of you - have a great day.

8). Most of all - thanks to Shannon and Pete for allowing me to make my posts and give collectors the chance to get some of those older and hard to find items that they have been seeking.

Best regards

Stan, I love your listings and always impressed by your 5 star packaging!

I have learned to stay out of this bs usually, but I feel obligated based on past service and general goodwill to put in a show of support to Stan here. Honestly, Stan has helped me fill in a lot of holes over the years at a fair price. He is honest and trustworthy and he has a large inventory. While you may get annoyed with the number of posts, take 2 minutes and read them, you just might find a hidden gem.

Having known Stan for years and dealt with him concerning books and TS, all I will say is the man is the best. As for the ads, read or don't read, but the business end isn't our concern as far as the arrangement with TF goes. One other thing, if you go to Gettysburg, go see Stan's shop or you will have missed the best TS store in the whole region and then some. Personally, I love to read "for sale" listings, by anyone. It is all just part of the wonderful forum provided by Treefrog. -- Al

This will be my final comment on this.
I have been one of the so called "detractors". Having read all the post in support of Stan let me say this. At no time did I or any of the other "detractors" ever question his honesty, integrity, service or any other thing relateing to Stan himself or his business.
If any other dealer would post as many adds as he had we would have said the same thing about them.
It was the general principle that we called to task.
Period, end of story.

Apparantly there was a thread or some comments made on the forum that I didn't get a chance to read. I have read all of the post in this thread and can comment as far as any dealings I've had with Stan.

Recently Stan listed some Britains Agincourt figures for sale here on the forum which were priced very reasonable. As with most of Stan's listings it said something about accepting any "reasonable offers".
I needed one of the sets listed for my collection (English Archers) and emailed Stan with the offer that I would pay his asking price ($30), but would he pay the shipping. I was somewhat confused as I thought that was a very reasonable offer. How much less of an offer could I make that would be accepted? ( I live in Baltimore and as you know Stan is in Gettysburg)

Stan refused the offer saying he needed to get the shipping cost ($5). I still purchased the set because I thought that the price with the shipping was still a rather good deal.
As soon as I sent payment he shipped the set that afternoon at it arrived the next day.
I have bought from Stan in the past and still would buy from him again. I would also recommended him to others as a good toy soldier dealer.

it's pretty customary that the buyer pays shipping...as from almost all retailers...$5.00 sounds pretty cheap...I can't ship for that.

That may be Mike, but when I buy from Shannon & Pete, if I purchase $25 or more, shipping is free. ;)

That is a great deal Skeeter...and it's pretty easy to reach a $25 minimum on any figure order...

I just assumed that it was a retired figure coming from Stan and most individuals don't comp the shipping...as per Ebay...

Sierra has had free shipping for a long time.

I agree, they provide great service, and you can track your package right

to your door.:)

Stan has always provided a great service for me and I have enjoyed his shop in Gettysburg for many years.

It is nice that Shannon and Pete allow other Retailers to come on here and sell their items that others maybe looking for their collections.

Great People all around. :)
