Making My Shenadoah Valley Diorama (1 Viewer)

 No I can't do that, in my eyes it's just not interesting enough to collect and there isn't any "glamour" for lack of a better word.

Scott,

You don't know what you're missing out on!;):D I must say if I would love to collect Wm. Britain's AZW, ACW, and Napoleonics!:)

Mike,
Try www.ehobbytools.com for some reasonable priced scenics.
Mark

Thank you for the tip Mark. I checked out the web site and found several items I might consider trying.

I have done some painting this afternoon along the Valley Turnpike Road. I like the tones - they match the base colors of my figuers very well. Here are a few pictures . . . . . Mike

Very nice Mike!:) Now I think in celebration of creating this wonderful diorama, go out and buy yourself more toy soldiers!:D;)

Vick

I'm enjoying your play time Mike and a very nice batch of photos.

Update: Here's a picture of my latest addition to my diorama - turnpike fences. This picture shows the use of 4 sets of turnpike fence WB #17615.

My idea of hand-painting landscape detail is turning out to be "amatuerish" at best - I am my own worst critic :p. In wanting this to be something very special I have decided to call in the big guns. I have commissioned Ken Osen to make me four 22" x 22" custom made scenic bases that when put together will give me a 44" x 44" dioramic square incorporating the "layout" ideas I have shown so far on this thread. If all goes according to plan, I should have them by the Chicago OTSN show in September. I will post pictures of the project when completed.

Mike,
Your work isn't amatuerish at all but I've got to admit, you can't go wrong with any of Ken's products.Good luck.

Now you're talking Mike-turnpike fences-realistic scenic bases- but be warned (although I think it might be too late) this era you appear to be now utterly absorbed in can and will be very addictive-that much I do know ;)

Subsequently, and over time, five will get me ten your next staged phases of "must haves" will be Artlllery; Cavalry; Command Posts; Character figures; Regiments; Supplies etc. etc. etc. etc.:D:D

Mike I dont think your painting looked that bad. But looking forward when you get this project completed.

Thank you all:
LT - Playing with these lilttle guys is always a good time for me.

Vick - You and my wife both agree on my sanity or lack there of

Scott - The fencing is a "must have" for any ACW ssetting.

Mark - Oh believe me kind sir. The camera hides a lot of blemishes. Gotta have more texture.

Bob - The turn pike fencing is fabulous. Certainly adds a nice deminsion to the scene. Gotta get some artillery - next on my list.

Titus - As always, very thoughtful.
