Making My Shenadoah Valley Diorama (2 Viewers)

This is a picture of the Springhouse and livestock pasture of the Spengler farm. Its basically looking toward the north east. I believe the spring catalog gave some strong hints that perhaps livestock (sheep) will be in the future offerings for the farm so that is why I created this area.

If you want livestock, check toy stores, and also the Christmas villages made by companies by like Lemax and Department 56 . . . scale may be an issue, but there are some decent options that aren't too expensive out there.

(The cow below is by Lemax in a small display on a night table.)

Kreddy, Who makes the drummer?

:D:D:D Talk about hitting the "Mother Lode" in today's UPS dellivery. Several of my latest acquisitions arrived: plank fencing set, straight stonewall set, fallen tree and stumps set, smokehouse set, and 17  figure sets. Most all of these are retired and I was very fortunate to have been able to acquire them.

The new arrivals have kept me busy. Here are some new pictures:

Looking east, showing completed plank fencing, stonewalls and placement of smokehouse, well, outhouse, and log pile.

Looking south east getting another view of new out buildings and their placement.

Vick you hit the nail on the head - I did get lucky :). Found a dealer having a 30% off sale :D and found another dealer that was divesting his business of his painted metal figure sets - got a really really good "close out" deal from him :D. Hated to run my CC# up as high as I did but at the prices I got, these sets wouldn't have sat around to long. And on top of that, all of the figure sets are from the Stonewall in the Valley series, they are all retired and a few can be almost impossible to find. Anyway, I am broke and in debt once again but very happy with no regrets ;).

I am going to do some painting to the table top this weekend to define the surface areas better. Once I do that, I'll start setting up the new figure sets I received today.

Mike

Mike, plenty of new figures and scenics, more figures to buy and OSTN on the way, that's the way to live!:D;)

Vick

Just couldn't help myself - I had to open some of my new figure sets and play a little. Here are a couple of quick shots - didn't spend too much time staging these shots as you can tell . . . . but they do show what's coming.

Mike there was no way you were not going to take them out to play with this evening and the prove of the pudding is the appearance of the last two photos. At the rate your acquiring your ACW goodies you'll soon run out of room for your Mission Station at Rorke's Drift:eek::eek::confused::confused::rolleyes:

I still have lots of room left for my 24th Foot and Zulus LT. ;)

I believe its Wm. Britain #17931 Union Drummer in Frock Coat
Mike

That's the one . . . I have quite a few more of the metal Britains ACW soldiers, but they're in storage and I'm not sure when I'll have room and the opportunity to get them back out in the near future.:(

Very nice Mike looks like you are enjoying these new figures. And a great way to fill in whilst waiting for more AZW stuff. I have been looking at ACW & WWI myself  When will it end ??? LOL

Mike, don't know if you're looking for some trees for the diorama, but if you are, Schliech looks like they create some nice oak trees; http://michtoy.com/MTSCnewSite/newplastic_folder/Schleich/2006_adds/30650.html

Scott, if you need a new range, you should join us on our great crusade to rid the world of the Nazis!;)

Vick

You are absolutely right Vick. Besides the oak trees, Schleich also makes a beech tree and several sizes of fir trees. THey also make several very nice African trees such as the umbrella acacia and the mopane tree which would work well with the Zulu range.
