Matchbox, Corgi and Hot Wheels cars. (1 Viewer)

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this thread over the weekend.

Some of the photographs posted by John, Gideon and Martyn brought back very fond memories of my childhood.

The first collection that I ever had was Dinky. The Dinky De Soto Fireflite was one of my favourites. I rememeber the Ford Prefect too, as it was my father's car.

Then, Corgi came along and there were more additions. One of my favourite Corgi was the Chevy Impala. I also had the Buick Riviera (in gold) as Gideon posted.

Sadly, I just have no recollection of what became of my Dinky and Corgi collection.:(

Raymond.

Raymond keep your eyes peeled, you never know when you may come across one that has just been waiting for you to find it!:)

Anyone have any interest in Wiking Models? They are very detailed plastic models from Germany. I first saw them in Germany and picked up a nice little assortment on our trips.

Here is a nice display I just rediscovered sitting behind a door! I am out of wall space, and it fortunate that I have a train show coming up!

I sure will, John. As I read this thread yesterday, it thought about re-starting a small collection of some of my favourite childhood items like Dinky and Corgi pieces. Keep posting photographs of your den.....you have so many interesting items.

Thanks, Raymond.:)

My brothers and I had many Hot Wheels and Match Box cars in the late 60's and early 70's. I remember setting up the orange tracks on the steps and racing the cars down the stairs. I only have two cars left, the rest were given away when my parents sold the house I grew up in.

These are the two I have left:

1. Brooke Bond Tea, This is the first car I ever had. It is beat-up but priceless to me.
2. Volkswagon Camper no 34

Both of these Are Match Box, Made in England by Lesney

Raymond.

It was a lot of fun photographing them...

While my diecast collection doesn't contain many of the rare models John has, I am very happy with it.

I plan on using a good number of them in photos of my new shelving units when I start selling on Etsy.

Thanks Raymond I will, glad you enjoy the photos!:) I plan to set my next

Den up like an old Hobby Shop with all the various things displayed in old

Oak Counters and display cases like I recalled when I was a child.

Currently I just don't have the necessary room, and I just crammed a nice

sized train collection and 20 smith miller trucks in there and its just a bit

over the top!

Here's a nice Corgi dog grooming truck... Did these sell well when they were new? Doubt it.

These Siku's are from the late 1960's and early 1970's. They are roughly 1:55th scale, very heavy and extremely functional models. Can't believe these were toys... Among the finest!

I have about 50 Corgis from when I was a kid, most still with the original boxes. I started breaking them out for my son Alec over the last couple of months. He now has all 14 of my fire trucks and engines, a police van, an AMX Tank Recovery Vehicle & crew, a Quad Gun & Limber, and an M60 Tank. In about a week or two, I will open the old box again and pull something else out . . . maybe the Hanomag Rocket Launcher. Once I do, I'll take some shots of him playing with them and send them to Brad with a polite request that he post them for me.:)
