Hi everyone,

since I am converting figures by various mfrs from their original matte finish to a gloss finish, I thought it'll be alright to put this subject in the General Toy Soldier Discussion part of the forum.
Tonight I got the Officer of the King and Country mounted WWI German Uhlans done and would like to share some pics with you.
Forgot to take a pic of the original, so the first one is the K&C promotional picture from the internet.
Cheers and Happy Collecting!
Konrad

P.S. Thought I would have the bugler ready to show as well, but unfortunately my 3 year old grandson decided to have a closer look at that fine figure and it fell.
His helmet got bent at one corner and some paint chipped off, so it will come up once I got it fixed :smile2:

Here are two more pics of the three mounted German WWI Uhlans.
I posted some pics in the K&C section last week, but I think they show better with the blue background, like I did tonight.
Once I got the bugler fixed, I will have some pics of the complete group of five.

Konrad...you gave them a great look...they really sparkle now...very nice job...

Hi Konrad,

The figures look marvelous! I think these figures look great in a matte finish, but the glossy finish just adds some elegance that is absent from the matte finish. I think you have done an excellent job with these figures and I think your work has added a touch of class to these fine figures. My compliments!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :smile2:

Michael and Pat,
thank you for your replies.
I do believe that the WWI German Uhlans are among the finest sculpts in the K&C ranges.
In every figure, both horse and rider are very well done.
For the finish you see here, well ... that is up to each individuals taste, but I can tell you right now, I love it that way and there will be more to come ^&grin :wink2:

Konrad,

well done on another fine gloss finish on matt detailed figures.

I do like the look of them and its an easy conversion that anyone can do...

Thanks for continuing to bring out the best with these soldiers, they do look good.

John

I have to say Konrad that they do look great!!! What make & era have you got in mind to do next?

Hi Konrad,

These are very striking in gloss! You must have quite a collection of these glossed-matt figures by now.

Makes the matte finish ones look unfinished now Konrad! ^&grin Great job - now give your Grandson a kiss - and tell him you've forgiven him!:D johnnybach

I already did, jb :smile2: and it's all good.
When I told him that we can fix it, he even said he would help me ^&grin

Well done, Konrad! I think you have a great idea there, to refinish them in gloss. I like the way they look better than the usual matte finish from K&C.

Prost!
Brad

Nice figures Konrad. I enjoy the gloss finish you put on and also I think it protects the figure. John

Looks very nice. I followed your lead and glossed up a Britains matte WW1 machine gun crew. I used Rustoleum clear gloss spray and the set looks fantastic. the gloss brings out a lot of detail that was hidden before.

Thanks for the comments, everyone :smile2:
A few weeks ago I found the last set to complete the 6 different longbowmen that were released in the now retired "Knights of Agincourt" series by Britains.
Especially the archers in this series are very well done and come with nice accessories like the arrow cases and the stakes.
Here now some pics of the English Longbowmen at Agincourt who made the unexpected win of that battle possible for the vastly outnumbered English Army.

Sounds good, 4th Hussar :wink2:
Can you take a photo and post it here.
I would be interested to see your set.
Have a Britains WWI figure myself that will come up here at some point.

Sorry but I have yet to figure out how to get a good closeup pic of my toy soldiers

Don't you just melt when they say something like that?^&grinjb

Hi Konrad,

I know I keep saying it, but the gloss varnish certainly brings out the depth of the colours! {bravo}}
