Does Look Good.:)..However....I do not see the ground crew available on Treefrog???....Is this a future release??

I look foward to a different livery....as this one is not "historically correct"..:(

Franz Stigler’s Me262. For decades it was thought that this was the personal aircraft of General Galland. To the contrary, Galland never set foot in White 3. Rumours began when a pic was taken of him outside of White 3...

The real story of White 3 is a bit different. Galland invited Stigler to join JV 44 but to bring his own plane. Stigler got hold of a brand new Me262 from a bomb damaged 262 factory and it turned out to be a really hot 262 so Stigler kept it as his personal aircraft and didn't let anyone else fly it. This was unusual in JV 44 where pilots used whatever plane was available and did not have personal aircraft.

Galland pulled rank and flew White 3 on several combat missions. A new pilot Lieutenant Pirchan also got permission from Stigler to fly the lucky White 3 but crashed it on takeoff killing himself and destroying White 3.

In actual fact, Galland flew White 3 on several occasions.

Stigler himself tells his own story about this here....

And here..."White 3", was always known as Stigler personal plane...

Terry, did Galland score many Victories in White 3?.

Rob

That is a great looking plane, but does it need the step under the tail to keep it up? Can it stand alone with no help-no tail tipping?

I don't know if Galland scored any victories in White 3 - he only flew it several times (see the second link in IXEC post). While the squadron did have a White 1, Galland usually flew whatever 262 was available as the '1' attracted too much attention. Also, the unit had approximately 50 pilots and 25 Me262s but only 6 or so were operational at any one time - so no guarantee as to what plane a pilot would end up with.

Galland had 7 victories in Me262s at JV 44, buy I don't know what planes he got them in.

K&C doesn't describe White 3 as Galland's plane - they just say here is White 3 with Galland in it. He certainly had his picture taken with it and pretty certainly sat in it and flew some combat missions.

Here's the description by K&C.....

Code: LW036

Name: Adolph Galland’s Me.262
Desc.: In March 1945 General Der Jagdflieger Adolph Galland was tasked to form a brand-new fighter unit, JV44 that would fly the Me262. Originally conceived as a "pure fighter" the design and concept had been altered by Hitler himself to become a "fighter/bomber"… Ace pilots like Galland (104 "kills") were aghast but had no choice in the matter… They were expected to be able to take on the British, American and Russians as "fighters" one day and "fighter bombers" the next. Our model shows Galland in "White Three" with two 500kg.bombs slung under the forward fuselage. This is the biggest and heaviest "Warbird" yet!
Price: US$239.00
Notice: Just 600 are being produced.

White 3 was not Galland plane.....

No one said White 3 was Galland's plane. If making a Me262 with Galland in it, which 262 would you use? White 1 - the commanders aircraft he did not fly very often. White 3 which he flew only a few times but had his picture taken with? The 262 he flew most often ? (whichever one that was?) The 262 he had the most victories in? (whichever one that was?)

Galland was not associated with any particular Me262 - any plane from JV 44 would probably do.

Well...maybe that's what you see when you read it....I read something quite different.

K&C's description read like this ...

We can think of no better way to start the new year than by presenting our latest, biggest and best K&C " Warbird"... the revolutionary Messerschmitt 262, the world's first jet-powered fighter aircraft.
Plus, we've got some additional Luftwaffe "ace" pilots and ground crew figures to go along with it!

LW036 "Adolph Galland's Me.262"

They shouldn't call it "Galland's plane.....there are so many other Me-262 aces KC could have used....and I hope they do another Me-262 ace, I'll buy it....

Hi all,

Thank you for the comments. The planes does not tip and can stand alone.
However, the plane can "tail-tip" quite easily due to the placement of the wheels & shape/weight/size of the plane.
But this will not take the "fun" away, its a great set.

For all the planes that the store had sold yesterday during the launch of the ME262, they have been tested for stability by the customers, so far we have encountered no problems :)

Regards
Mike
