ME262 - Good Stuff (1 Viewer)

K & C also released a fuel drum and ammo set a few years ago ( retired now ) along with a supply depot sign .

I Have this set and it's well worth picking up if you come across it.

That is a great looking plane, but does it need the step under the tail to keep it up? Can it stand alone with no help-no tail tipping?
JW

My Me.262 arrived today and the model cannot stand on its own - it tips without the step support. Waiting for advice from Brett at Military Workshop - perhaps it's "user error".

How can this be user error??? the plane has three wheels and if its happening its not good news at all. I have just had an e-mail from a friend who now does not wish to pay 239 GBP if there is a chance of this happening. dissapointing really.

Ixec...

Three times Galland flew white three and no kills in this craft which was destroyed in an accident at Oberweissenfeld. I raised this in PM with Phantom warrior a good while back.

The photo that started this taken by ground crew and propaganda men is the cause but, you cannot blame manufacturers for doing this as most have. Gallands name is an attractive ''for sale'' boost rather than this really was Stiglers aircraft from the factory. Though I think some of his exploits would have made him a more favourable recipiant for acknowledgement especially, the escorting of an allied bomber back to the coast rather than shooting it down

Mitch - I hope it's just my model. It's a beautiful piece and perhaps your friend should just inspect his before leaving the shop. Others on this thread do not seem to have had a problem with their model.

Snappy's comments although saying it free stands also caveat that its easy to tip from the wording. It was a concern many voiced on here when it was released and pictured and, I thought it had been put to bed with the comments from Andy but, you are not alone from contact I have had today. It sounds too worrying for some, and although the aircraft is a cracker, no doubt, the worries from the lad I mentioned are too much for him to fork out the £239. which, is a great shame

This is not good news to hear and hopefully it's isolated and not with most. But it sounds like the weight distribution might be just barely enough to make it stand on it's own, and in some cases not quite enough. This is a common problem with plastic scale model kits (I've built many) with tricycle landing gear. I wonder how K&C delt with it with the polystone when they were developing this model. The last tricycle kit I built was a 1/32 P-38 Lightning, and I had to add and add and add weight into the engine sections and nose to keep mine from tipping. Anyway, it will be interesting to see if anybody else has any tipping issues with their ME262. I sure hope they don't.

Breslau,
I have only seen one displayed myself and that is shop display one. That one sat OK without the step. Still too early to get feedback from others who got one.
Bring it back and will see if same happens with another one.
Regards
Brett

I am awaiting this aircraft....This "tipping business" is: NOT GOOD NEWS::(....Especially when we were assured by the manufacturer that this would not be a concern....Ridiculous....If it does tip then the support latter being sold separately is a JOKE:mad:

Thanks Brett and I also got your email. No matter what surface I place the Me.262, it tilts back on its tail. It will only stand with the support "ladder" provided in the box. Rob

Well I won't be paying £200.00 + if it is a tail sitter but is this just a one off  My £20.00 Corgi Me 262 does not need a stand so can't see why a top of the range K&C one would

If the ladder is in the box then obviously: "it is knowingly a tail sitter"...Not Good...Not what we were lead to believe.....Hopefully it can stand without the ladder...but now I don't think so:confused:

I have an Armour 1/48 scale Me262 and a couple of Armour P-38's that are all die cast and they sit on their trike landing gear just fine, although one of the P-38's will go tail down if the shelf is bumped. I would hope the KC tail sitter is a one of, at that price. -- Al
