Hi Guys,
While at the most recent December London Toy Soldier Show I was delighted to meet once again with the actor, Jason Salkey who played Rifleman Harris, one of Richard Sharpe’s (Sean Bean’s) ‘Chosen Men’ in many of the Television adaptations of the Sharpe novels.
I was happy to tell Jason and his fellow guest actor Hugh Fraser who portrayed Sir Arthur Wellesley (Wellington) that K&C were well and truly to reproducing some of the principal characters from the television series in 1:30 scale, all-metal, hand-painted miniatures.
I was also delighted to obtain a great selection of ‘behind the scenes’ photos of some of the cast as well as a copy of Jason’s own fascinating book about the many trials and tribulations of actually making the TV series behind the former Iron Curtain in the wilds of the Crimea and elsewhere.
It’s a great ‘warts and all’ story of the sometimes difficult and often awful conditions actors and production staff had to go through to make what ultimately became a great historical drama television series.
The book is called ‘From Crimea With Love’ and is well worth reading if you enjoy the ‘back-story’ behind a successful series on the ‘Telly’… Grab it if you can.
All of the 'upcoming celebrity' figures will join the rest of K&C’s 95th Rifles to make quite a formidable Napoleonic collection… Look out for ‘em.
