I'll be there as usual. I'm pretty sure I'll be bleary eyed and tired from trying to get something finished in time. :rolleyes2:

I'm coming to the show tomorrow. Haven't seen you ladies and gents in a long time, and feeling pretty good this week. Does anybody have the address so I can punch it into my GPS?

Had a great time. Saw Tom Dubel, Julie from the frog, Brad Lewin, Matt Murphy, George Guerierro, Andrias Kruger, Michael (Madadicus), Pete, and met Zach, Alan Caton and his lovely wife. 8 of us had a nice dinner after the show. The ride killed my back, but it was worth it!

You probably should have stayed over. Traffic was slow on the way home but got home about 7. Stopped once. Thank goodness for cruise control. Helps with the back.

Good seeing you. Feel better.

Brad

Thanks Brad, it was good seeing you too. It was a quiet show, but in addition to seeing some old friends, I did make one nice acquisition, I finally got one of the Trophy WWI troop transport buses, the one with the Indian Army troops. I had a really good time catching up with everyone.

It was very good seeing everyone. Very happy Louis is back in action. And TF was welcome with its first representation at VF ever. Thank you, JULIE and Tom.

Here are my photos. Not exactly sure which link will work the best to see them all on photobucket:

Here are some shots of the items I got at the show:

A Trophy WWI Troop Transport Bus Carrying Indian Army Troops

A K&C Glossy Napoleonic Curassier

A K&C Seaforth Regimental Standard Bearer (an odd variant with a blue rather than yellow Regimental Color.

It was the quietest major show I've ever been to. I have never seen fewer vendors or collectors at this show. I still had a great time, as the people who did attend were terrific!

Yes, there were less vendors. The back table (on the far left side of the auditorium as you walk in) was empty. One noticeable absence (unless I completely spaced out) was the War Movies person. That's a shame. He has everything.

Wow, I think he's been at every show I've been too in the last 15 years. I wish I could have gone, but I had just gotten back from Gettysburg & Antietam, plus Saturday was my wedding anniversary. It's a shame because from attending the show to reports when I wasn't able to it seems to get worse every year. I think the last time the show was in Delaware is probably the busiest one I can remember in recent years.
Thank you for the excellent coverage.

Thanks for posting some great photos from the show Andrias, I do not know much about this show but from the photos looked like there was a plenty to see...Sammy

There are less and less vendors at the shows because frankly, there are less vendors.

At Valley Forge, you had Hobby Bunker bringing half the store with him, tables along the front and side walls, the most tables he's ever had at that show, Nick from Crown, Myself, Al Green, Thor Johnson, Norm from Memphis Toy Soldiers, the Jones Brothers, Hogermeyer, Gary Green, Red Lancer, Imrey Risley and one other figure kit seller, plus another vendor with loads of Ospreys and the new Hope and Crosby duo of the toy soldier world, TFT and Tom Dubel, then throw in a guy who was selling a boatload of old Aeroart figures and I think one other Russian manufacturer was there, plus Russ Salsberg selling some really nice Russian figures and lastly, the new owners of Britains showing some upcoming sets.

All major matte finish manufacturers were represented in spades, plus you had several quality dealers selling vintage matte finish and gloss figures, the largest plastic toy soldier dealer on the East Coast was there, plus a collector or two dumping chunks of their collections, the only other East Coast vendor not there was Richie Dutkins.

Not sure what people who went who were disappointed were looking for; I had a great show, one of my best at VF in about four years, did more on Friday than I did both days last year, Nick said he had a very good show, Matt was busy the entire time as was Thor Johnson, plenty of folks walking around with bags full of goodies.

The shows are all slowly circling the drain; collectors are buying differently now than in the past. Websites, Ebay, Amazon, plus there is loads of information on new items on Facebook now. Dealers are all getting older, some are slowing down, retiring or sadly passing away.

There hasn't been a new dealer throw his hat into the ring since Nick did six years ago; as one of my former employers in this business told me "If you could make a million dollars selling toy soldiers, Donald Trump would be doing it"...............get well soon Bill, I'm thinking about you and hoping you're doing ok....................

It is what it is, not sure what can be done about it............................

I agree with George. The vendor selling T-Shirts and videos was missing and Ted Deddens because as I understand it, his daughter had graduation. That was certainly a loss, but other than that, I did not miss much. There were less diorama articles and less estate Russian figures.

Friday was slow in my opinion because it was one of the few days this year that the weather was phenomenal. Saturday there were hours where my martial arts training came in handy to get through the exhibition.

The tables showed substantial gaps by the end of the show, so I think most dealers did well.

I think Brad and his team did again do a great job and the combination of the miniatures and toy soldiers makes this show unique. Cannot wait for next year.

I think the T-shirt & video vendor people are referring to is "Belle and Blade".

I also thought the quantity and quality of products for sale was well represented. HobbyBunker had a huge assortment, and George's table was amazing. I can never judge attendance, as I am busy enjoying myself and not really paying attention to everything going on. I really enjoyed the show as usual, and am very thankful for all the vendors that make it so much fun.

Will try to post my photos later.

Walt

Ted Deddens now works for Britain's so I don't think we'll see him at shows any longer except as a Britain's representative.
