In October, I also received this special version of Hiriart set 1207 FIAT-ANSALDO L3/35 CARROARMATO TANKETTE. I have the European model in my collection, but also wanted this desert version with the troops in pith helmets and the crewman wearing the special Italian leather helmet.

And finally, the last set I received for my collection with the October Hiriart shipment is Set 1368 WORLD WAR II ROMANIAN INFANTRY which is a continuation of my commissioning sets representing secondary World War II powers. To date, they have included Polish infantry and lancers, Finish infantry, Slovak infantry, Hungarian infantry and tankette, and Greek infantry and tankette. It also will include, on the 2018 order, three versions of the Czech Skoda LT vz 35 light tank in German, Slovak, and Romanian service. In addition, in 2018, will be Nationalist Chinese infantry as trained and equipped (e.g., stahlhelms and blue uniforms) by the 1930s German Military Mission. In 2019, I will be ordering WWII Dutch East Indies infantry.

Thank you, I am glad you like it. It is also my pleasure to post my collection here on the forum for those who may be interested in seeing it. Mike

At the Chicago Show in September, I bought these three Del Prado mounted figures from Richard Walker: Officer, Austrian Cuirassiers, 1796; Officer, Austrian Cuirassiers, 1814; and Trooper, Wuerttemburger Jaeger zu Pferd Koenig, 1809.

I just received the seven horses with new bases from Kingcast's Set No. P10 ROYAL CANADIAN ARTILLERY, 1890 which I had won at auction, but which did not include bases for the horses and therefore the horses would not stand up. Thanks to Mike DeMarco's excellent job of making new bases for me, I can now display the set. I have temporarily used a piece of Styrofoam as the base for the limber and gun, but will ask Mike to make me a 6 x 3 inch matching base for them, too. This set sold new for $350 in 1989.

Nice to see the set come to fruition. jb

These are two John Jenkins Designs Seven Years War sets I just bought from Treefrog: ROT-11 Roth Wurzburg Infantry Regiment, Infantry Officer with Colonel's Flag and ROT-12 Roth Wurzburg Infantry Regiment, Infantry Officer with Regimental Flag. I am going to display these flag bearers separately from my Battle of Leuthen diorama since they are not in the painting the diorama is based on.

They're nice figures! I'm a little surprised that the flags are printed, not painted on tin, or even sculpted and cast, and painted.

Prost!

Yes, that was a little surprising, but I still like them. I also ordered them on Bob W's behalf and he was pleased with them and displayed them the same day I brought them over.

John made the move to printed resin flags quite a while back, as early as his Jacobite Rebellion series which has a mix of metal and resin flags. All the banners/flags in the War of the Roses series are printed resin. I think only the very early Plains of Abraham and Monongahela series were all metal flags. -- Al

Thanks for the information, Al. I don't collect those other series, so I haven't seen the their flags, but as I said, I am perfectly happy with the Roth Wurzburg flags.

I recently picked up another Bastion Models set on eBay. It is Set A.35 GERMAN INFANTRY 1916 "COALSCUTTLE" HELMET. This is one of nine Bastion sets on the Philip Weiss December auction. The winner of those auctions turned right around a put them on eBay within about two weeks of the auction date. I had the other eight sets, so the eBay listing worked out for me.

I continue to add to my World War II mahogany warbird collection and now have about three dozen. My latest eBay pick-up is this Messerschmitt Me-410 A3 Hornisse (Hornet) ground attack fighter-bomber. This is actually the first one I have seen; none of my catalogs or the web sites of the various Philippine mahogany dealers have a Me-410. I don't know what scale it is, but it isn't 1/32, so it could be 1/36 or even 1/48. In any case, the model has a wing span of 16 inches and it is 11 1/2 inches long.

The Me-410 was powered by two Daimler Benz DB603A 12-cylinder V, liquid cooled engines each with 1850 Horse Power. Its maximum speed was 388 MPH; it had a range of 1,050 miles; and a service ceiling of 23,000 feet. It was armed with two 7.9mm machine guns in the nose as well as two 20mm cannons. There were also two 13mm machine guns in two remote controlled turrets located on each side of the fuselage. The Me-410 could carry a 2,200 pound bomb load. It had a wing span of 53 feet and was 40 feet long which were also the dimensions of the Me-110 Destroyer it was intended to replace. Messerschmitt produced 1,160 Me-410s during the war.
