A Roman Sentry basks in the warming glow of sunrise and offers up prayers to the God Mithras, Lord of Light in thanks after his fears of the night before in this remote outpost, at the edge of the Empire and known World.

Another very nice photograph featuring your Roman interest Steve. Your mention of the Roman God Mithras caught my attention since I am aware of this particular pagan deity. For those that are unfamiliar with Mithras its an interesting subject to read about.

Yes indeed. That's what's so interesting about it and can give one pause for thought.

Sun God religions were popular throughout human history, and it may be of interest to some that the religious wars between the Atheists and the Mithraic (based on Mithras) is a major plot feature in the HBO series 'Raised by Wolves' which is set in a dystopian future. And of course a she wolf was an important myth regarding the foundation of Rome. TV and Films these days, just rehashed story lines, nothing new under the Sun :wink2:

Sol Invictus (The unconquered Sun) Roman God popular with the Soldier Emperors of the later part of the third century AD being one of those Matt.
