And Cora's and the coaching staffs reward is they all got fired after the game.
Right; it's Cora's fault that the GM handed him this pile of chicken sh%t and expected him to make chicken salad out of it.
He'll get another job very soon, he won a WS title with the team in 2018 and got them to within a horribly blown third strike call that led to them losing game 4 of the 2021 ALCS, they win that game, they win the series and go on to the WS.

Rumor is that Dave Dombrowski will hire Cora to replace Rob Thompson in Philadelphia. He hired Cora for Boston. But apparently Dombrowski offered him the Phillies manager role and Cora turned it down. Don Mattingly is filling in as interim manager, in the meantime.
No surprise that Thompson was let go. It might be a little unfair that the manager pays for the players' lousy performance. But then, a good manager should be able to draw excellent performance from his players, too.
Not sure if it's an indication of the change, but the Phils won last night, blanking the Giants 7-0. We'll see tonight if they can win back-to-back games.

The Giants lost a doubleheader to the Phillies when they had the lead going into the 9th Thursday and then they were shutout yesterday.
Again, it is early but I think I am with Brad, George and Brad/Mark when it comes to this season.

When the Celtics get eliminated tonight by Embid and the 76er's, aside from the World Cup, there will be nothing sports related for me to watch until NFL training camps open up in late July, I have less than zero interest in baseball.

The Rays from Tampa have some 22 year old phenom on their team; he's going to look great in Dodger blue or pinstripes in four years.
All of MLB is just a farm system for those two franchises.

Too many teams and too many games dilute the talent pool. At least ten MLB teams should be disbanded. They can join the league with the Savannah Bananas and make more money.

RIP Bobby Cox.
He really was the epitome of baseball, a players’ manager and by all accounts a great person.
I love the way he implemented a rule against players propping up their sunglasses on the bill of their hats since the glasses blocked the team’s emblem.

My reply "Go easy on Phillies fans, the Flyers and 76er's just got swept, they need something to cheer about".........................
