Modifications and repaints (1 Viewer)

I thought I would start a thread so others can post repaints/modification and any other idea,s they have for making figures more useable.
I like modifying sets to make them more useable/displayable and so you can have multiples of useful figures.
IMO if a figure doesn't need a stand why put one on,also sitting figures don't pin/glue them to what ever they are sitting on so the buyer has more freedom.
Tank riders etc don't so I don't see why sitting figures do.

Hi Wayne,

Nice work with your repaints, and great pics of the JJD Messerschmidt. Those are the best that I've ever seen of that model. This is another instance in which a collector is posting pics that make the model look better than the manufacturer promos. Those guys need to hire some forum folks to help with marketing!

Thanks for posting,

-Moe

Oh, that is the JJD 109, correct? :redface2:

Hi Wayne,

Nice work with your repaints, :

Thanks for the comment, I take pride in my work, and when Wayne comes over with another box of figures, its always a challenge to see if I can achieve a finish that fits in with the original paintwork and style, and going on his close up photos, I do :)

Nice work!

Maybe we should ask the mods to move it to the Painting subforum, though.

Prost!

Great idea and I will put some pics but, a quick one of a TG figure that originally had a shell in his hands and, I wanted to change it and add a rifle being cleaned. Also a quick repaint which, I still don't have finished!!

I also and hope that the thread stays here where it can be added to without being removed to a painting section??

This was a standing figure from the DAK Tiger I which, when I repainted it grey I wanted some different crew. The pointing soldier just cried out to be repainted in black panzer uniform and sawn in half in order to fit the turret

Great detailed repaint! and nice white silk scarf colour :salute:: .....( I hate so much the red and white polka dot WW2 scarf by KC and TG "Disney" style{sm2})

A dak tank commander repainted in kaki to remove the "green jungle" jacket and the "red polka dot" scarf..

The german officier in the car originally all in camouflage and without ranks let me think of a nowadays american officier ! So I painted in grey the cap and pants...In this way also the eagle and skull on the cap are more visible {sm3}

Really only do it for a excuse to come over for a beer and a chat mate.............^&grin
Hope this thread keeps going im really interested to see others idea,s
so far Mitch and Poppo have some great idea,s.
I have a spare Tunisian crew and they will find there way to John,s now.

Some nice stuff being shown. Poppo its amazing what just changing the colour of a hat can do to blend a figure in.

Well, a couple of mine no apologies for the pictures its not my thing and never will be. First some pics of a conversion from the KM range to Panzer Meyer in Kharkov. The pic of the two show how different it was but, from the famous staged picture of Meyer shouting his troops forward in his command car it had to be done. The vehicle was Rommel's staff car SL butchered and changed into the Meyer command vehicle and, the KM figure was just the right pose for the conversion and picture. I tried to wear the paint when applied to show the roughness and wear on his uniform on the shoulders and back and it came out ok. Milliput was used to make a hat and winter gloves. he was removed from the stand to be able to stand in the AFV. simple job of cutting around his feet as the extra height from the stand meant he cleared the visor/windscreen of the AFV

I changed the last and the first guy ( WW1 french soldiers), into foreign legion ones. In the last one, I painted the trousers, hat, and added the cap scarf. About the officier, I added the cap scarf and little changings in the jacket.

I have zero artistic talent, but what you guys do with these figures is great! I'm jealous!!

I repainted a del prado italian "ardito" into a "bersagliere" in north africa, I really prefer this last version.{sm3}
