Greetings fellow collectors and enthusiast. I have been lurking this site for months now and finally decided it was time to join up. Its a wonderful resource for our toy soldier fascinations and obsessions coupled with very informative and enlightening discussions.
So, I've decided to make a friendly introduction by posting pictures of some of my "modular" Vignettes/Dioramas. Posted below are a couple of mini dioramas set up on 18mm MDF board and its sides dressed with veneers of Jarrah (Should probably give them a lick of glossy varnish at some stage). Each base as small non slip rubber pegs attached to its underside.I cut each board to the same size so it would fit into my glass cabinets, or to simply place on any shelf or table top. I'm currently working on 3 larger dioramas: Hougoumont, the French calvary charge with Blackwatch and Coldstream squares and the Scots Greys and French line infantry (Mostly K&C with a few Britains). The Hougoumont board is almost complete and i'll post a few more close up pics soon. Hope you'll enjoy them fellas. Best Regards :)

Octavian,
Glad you joined! Your "stuff" is wonderful and I do love the modularity of the vignettes, especially as they all fit into that display cabinet. The lights are a great idea as well. Bravo!!
Mike

WOW, your displays are very beautiful and well photography, good job Octavian; you really did a good job.

Welcome to the TF

Rod.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting some pictures of your wonderful collection. I too have one of those IKEA cabinets but not for my toy soldier collections as I find there is just too much space between the shelves. Although with adding the boards as you have done it doesn't look to bad at all.

Cheers

Scott

Welcome Octavian. The photos and your diorama scenes are very nicely finished. Thanks for posting the pictures of your work. Leadmen

Welcome, Octavian, and thanks for sharing your dioramas!

That's a clever system, using a standard for your base size. Do you plan on creating more modules with component dios from the same subject, so you could take all of the modules and make a large display, if desired?

Prosit!
Brad

I am glad you finally posted pictures of your dios. As we have discussed in the past using the User CP message vehicle, I think your dios are superb and I knew you would receive a very warm welcome from forum members. Keep the pictures coming. Thanks for sharing.

Mike

Hi fellas, a special thanks to Lewey Gun Vick, UKReb, 1879fanatic, Debrito, thebirfarmer, oberstoskar, Leadmen, theBaron, Mike (Mestell), Njja, Louis Badolato, The Templar, Dickbuttons and beating retreat for your kind words of encouragement. Its a real pleasure to share what i enjoy doing most with like minded souls. Am glad you all enjoyed it, and thank you for taking the time to stop by and look :)

Debrito-Rod, i've being following your threads and must admit that i'm a fan of your work. You're no slouch with the camera and your stuff on www.handmadehistory.com is inspiring to say the least. Thanks for your comments.

oberstoskar: The sand material used on my Egyptian dioramas is modelling sand from Games Workshop. It provides nice texture and can be painted on and dry brushed after. As for the figures, they are Britains new Napoleonics indeed.

And to my fellow crusaders :) Mike (Mestell) and The Templar, cheers for the comments guys. Hopefully i'll get around to finishing that crusader diorama.

Stay tune for pics on the "Assault on Hougoumont"

Best Regards
