Monthly Max Posting Conversation (2 Viewers)

Is this sorta like a cell phone plan. Can I get roll over posts^&grin

"I think that we debate the merits of this decision until the cows come home. I think the thing that everybody should keep in mind is that it's a decision that would not have been taken lightly. It's a RESPONSE to how some of us guests (lets not forget that is what we are) have behaved in this forum. It may be heavy handed, but such is life.

Maybe if we considered how we behaved, the level of respect and maturity we show when interacting on the forum and the perceptions it creates well then it may not have reached this point. But it has and as this is a military related forum I think we should apply a more soldierly attitude. Quit whining, suck it up... take on board why it happened, learn from those mistakes and get used to working with what you have, not what you want." jules

There is a lot of sense in Jules' post. I look at the forum several times a day but maybe only post once or twice. Often I can't think of anything to say that hasn't been said. I still enjoy reading what others have contributed of course. It is tiresome though to have to wade through some of the point scoring and predictable same-old-same-old 'noise' at times. Being obliged to read (or even skim) agendas being pursued is particularly boring. I enjoy reading thoughtful posts and unique points of view. I don't mind seeing brief supportive/praising posts (and ironic variations!) and I love the wit that some members display.

Having a limit on posts won't effect my posting. It should though stop the arguments that escalate out of control. Members will give more thought to what they say and this should make threads more succint and interesting, and less likely to become annoying and I would appreciate that.

Well there you go and how easily done. I've started my Dispatches thread this morning, and have racked up seven posts in it already just chatting and joking with friends, and its only 10.10am here and I've already almost reached a daily quota under new policy. This new policy will take a whole lot of adjusting to for me, but I'll give it a go.

In the meantime anyone who has complained about me or thinks I dominate too many threads I sincerely apologize, please accept that it s enthusiasm for the hobby and K&C in the main and not an attempt to crush other views:redface2:

Best to all

Rob

If you can’t post on a forum where can you post? The answer is of course is a letterbox! :rolleyes2: ^&grin Sorry Rob…:wink2: ^&grin ^&grin

Back to reality it’s not the quantity of posts that is the problem but the context of some, this new policy will change nothing.

Jeff

Can I just remind everyone there is no daily maximum!!! It is a monthly total of 250 posts.

It's been explained to me twice and I still don't get it. It looks like it is meant to reduce the number of posts from 8 or so prolific posters, a few of whom engage in arguments. But it won't catch most of the arguers. Sounds like there were many complaints about the prolific posters or Pete and Shannon wouldn't be doing this.

It's not hard to cut down to 250 posts per month, even for Rob (not sure if Mitch or Bayern can do it )

And the system could evolve? So we will have to live with it or not.

At the rate some are still posting it is going to get very quiet near the end of the first monthly period. Some could go quiet much before then.

Oh, good, I can catch up on my sleep.

From what I understand it's a rolling 250 in any thirty day cycle.

This could be a good revenue raiser. If you run out of posts, perhaps you can buy posts from someone who doesn't need them.

The revenue raising part could be very beneficial in buying more toy soldiers! I knew there was a method to this madness :wink2:

It appears that not everyone does Brad, that is why I posted it.

Give me some credit also.

If you feel there's ambiguity then perhaps it should be clarified, to the extent it hasn't been, although I thought the administration already did that by saying that each person can check thier post counts by going to their profile page and looking at most recent posts and going back to the tenth page (based on 25 posts per page).

I am not sure what the problem is Brad. Rob had mentioned he was almost at his daily quota. I clarified that is was 250 per month.

That is all. I was just trying to help and I really didn't see the need for your post.

And I was merely pointing out that it seemed to be generally understood, particularly if you look at the title of the thread as posted by Pete.

Had the same thoughts like Terry.
If the restriction of total posts within a certain period was aimed at cutting down on arguments, it will fail of course.
If someone is out to start an argument or sprinkle comments into an ongoing discussion that will most likely raise arguments, he sure won't need the amount of 250 posts in 30 days to do so, so he will never run into a situation that a limit of posts could keep him from "baiting", "mocking" or whatever all that is called.

^&grin Oh, and Rob, if you read this, every first week of a month and every London Show, you have 150 posts with "kogu's posting service" ^&grin :wink2:

But I honestly still believe that it won't be necessary. There is no point in this new rule and it will quickly show.

Normal service will be resumed Konrad! The only time I can see it being a problem is when Andy releases a Boulton Paul Defiant, then I may need a few more posts:wink2:
