Yes, all there and very nice they are too. I like the ones with the camels, I didn't realize just how much detail was painted on these.

Jeff

Jeff,
I'm going to start off afresh and post those photo's here on this new thread. Won't be posting anything on the old thread in future.
Yeah, I had no intention of getting those camels until I saw them in HK a couple of weeks ago and realised how well they would go with the LRDG/SAS range.

Okay, here's the photo's again - and I'll post some more SOHK when I get the chance.

Cheers
H

Harry.

These are much better thanks. It's my wifes birthday on Sunday and I (we) have got her the Festival Sign Writer (matt) set for her collection of SOHK. To get the free postage I had to have the Charging Corporal from the Crimean War :D

Looking forward to seeing the SOHK pics.

What? Like these you mean Jeff?

Only kidding. This is an example of one of the miniature Chinese tables we got the other day. We're going out to get some more tomorrow. They fit inside our SOHK & IC display case and with some Chinese paintings hung at the back of the cabinet, will really complement the figures.

Cheers

Yes, exactly like that! :D That table is something isn't it? More pictures please :).

Jeff,
Here's some SOHK for you & the Wife.

First one is our SOHK & IC Display Cabinet. You can see how those miniature Chinese tables raise the figures up a bit and leads to a better display.

Harry, those are some nice pieces, do you know what kind of wood it is? How big is the Toy Solsier hobby in China? Thanks for the pics, Mike:)

Harry.

Thank you for posting these...that display cabinet is really something else and sets off your collection to a tee :).

There are only a few of us on the forum that collect the SOHK & IC ranges, but I think that they are the most superb painted figures that K&C produce.

Regards

Jeff

Harry you should be pleased with the last photos you've posted I know I am and I'm sure others are and thanks for sharing them....The Lt.

I'm not sure what kind of wood it is Mike, though I can try and find out through the manufacturer. It's really the multiple coats of that red lacquer that sets them apart though.
As far as I can tell, the Toy Soldier hobby is non-existant in China, certainly in North East China anyway - ironic isn't it?
It's very difficult to find items I can use in the hobby. There's only one shop in Dalian I've found that we'd call a hobby store and it only sells Tamiya stuff, and the range is VERY limited. My wife had never seen anything like the first FOV vehicles I brought home. When I first showed her SOHK on the internet she was blown away and is now hooked. Visitors to our apartment typically need to go to the local hospital to have their jaws put back into place after cracking them on the floor.

Thanks for the encouragement Lt. I discovered that I was inadvertently taking the camera out of MACRO mode between shots. Also the shutter speed needed adjustment. I'm still not getting the quality of close-up shots I was obtaining previously, but shall persevere.
I'm not sure what's doing it, but the very last acrylic wash on the desert base makes it look like its been raining in some shots. It could of course be the way the light is shining in from the window that's directly above the table I'm using for some of the shots. The base needs a final coat of matt medium anyway, but I'll try experimenting with taking the photos in a different location.
Have to say that I'm pretty chuffed with the photo of the AK motorcycle combination. Its difficult to say where the dio base ends and the background picture begins.

Thanks Again
H

Thanks Jeff,

The other cabinet we have is just as nice although its a completely different design. Again, it really needs some kind of "staggered" insert to raise the figures up. I'm sure we'll find what I'm thinking of fairly soon. Something like a miniature "bleachers" spectator stand is what I have in mind.
I agree, the SOHK and the IC range are visually stunning and I sometimes wonder if other collectors are missing out because they (perhaps) dismiss those ranges as being non-military.....Just a thought.

Cheers Rob.
Thinking about a generic Bulge dio next. I'll probably do another desert one next time I'm home, but I'll make it bigger. I'd really like to get my hands on some ME buildings this time. We'll see what I can find.
Made a few mistakes while constructing the LRDG/SAS base, but I now know what to look out for when I'm working on a dio base, so hopefully the next one'll be better.

Best Regards
