Its amazing just how adaptable a simple base and background can be. Here's some more AK.

Thought I'd post these as a taster of the new dio I'm working on. I've taken a whole bunch of snaps as I've been developing the dio and shall be posting them in the "How To" section in due course - but here's a wee preview.

Cheers

This is the basic layout. The gun pit and ruined building are fixed in place. The tunnel is in place with some mesh at the back to give it depth. The cliff faces are fixed in place and supported by those pieces of plastic coathanger and a couple of chopsticks cut to size. The gravel road is fixed with pritt glue.
Going to let all the pritt & 2-part epoxy dry out and cure overnight then make a start on the groundwork and cliff faces in the morning.

Thought about having the Hetzer in the tunnel, but tried the Jagdpanther to see what it might look like with the back end 25% inside the tunnel. I think it looks really mean and moody, so I'll probably go with it.....We'll see.

Harry you go on posting those SOHK and Imperial collection dispalys and soon there may well be a whole lot of those sets flying to south of the great green greasy Limpopo. I mean they are really cool. I never paid them much attention before but now that you have shown me the errors of my ways
Regards
Damian

Let me know when you order them up Damian, and I'll post my sales commission claim off to Andy by return......

Hei Harry, you improved the quality of your photos. What a nice collection!

cheers;)

I've had a lot of help from forum members on improving the photos. Looks like its began to pay off. I really wanted to demonstrate that even though they're non-military subjects, the SOHK & IC ranges are well worth considering. Besides, they generally keep the ladies happy, which means we can usually go ahead and get our WWII items without too much earache.
:D:D:D

Harry,

Don't wish to hi-jack your thread, but I thought you might like to see a pic of my Wifes SOHK collection. Not as broad as yours but colourfull none the less.

It would seem that you may be on the way to converting Damian to the SOHK :)

Regards

Jeff

No Probs Jeff, I'm glad you've posted these. Please...to all...if you can contribute to this thread, then do feel free to do so.
I notice you guy's have got some figures that we don't have and they're nice to see. Thanks for posting and I'll show them to my other half in the morning.

Harry,
Thanks for posting about SOHK. I had not heard of those figures until I joined this forum. YOur pictures and comments are enjoyable. They seem to be a great line of fun figures.

Lou,
I'm glad you like the SOHK photos.
Its as Jeff says, they are possibly the most detailed and nicely painted figures that K&C offer on the market.
I said somewhere else on this thread that they don't lend themselves to dioramas. This isn't strictly true as I've previously used some of the figures in a Flying Tiger display. My next big-ish project in December/February will be to put my FT display together again properly.

Cheers

Actually, one of my favorite dioramas is my SOHK street scene. The little vignettes, when displayed together over a big street diorama with the old K&C 3-D buildings & bases really make you feel like you have gone back in time.

Thanks Louis.
I honestly believe these are some of the best K&C products on the market.

I agree. I suspect it may having something to do with the painters being Chinese women. They probably have a feel for the patterns on the traditional Chinese clothing which inspires them to really do a phenomenal job decorating these wonderful figures.

I suspect that you're 100% correct.

Harry, welcome back.

This looks great, I have been checking out your dioramas on the 'other channel' over the last week, seems you have been busy.

Jeff

Thanks Jeff,
Aye, Missus Heid's been trying to work out why she's been receiving so much unaccustomed attention as well....:):););)

Decided the NMA figure on the Hetzer deserved a cushion, cos it must be pretty cold sitting on that gun mantlet.
Need to dull down that ice, probably use the same method as I dulled down the underside of the Hetzer. Am working on improving the icicles and the barbed wire obstruction strung across the road.
Have started a new Crusader/IC dio. Its a very simple one this time. Ought to be able to post some photos in a couple of days time.
Cheers
H
