WOW .... that a great looking caisson ..... looks like you have used Italeri horses and parts for some of that.
Is the wagon by Italeri too??

I was most fortunate to see an original one in the German Military Museum in Dresden a few years back.

It was dated 1809 and interesting to see the colour of the paintwork. I was kept in low light, but the paint colour was still visible.
Note the ammo box under the caisson too and the spike at the back to hold a spare wheel.

Thanks for the picture, The ones I found were longer than the one in your picture, I guess there were different styles? caisson001c.jpg09-564402.jpgnf3.jpg09-564403.jpg09-581323.jpg

After seeing the cantiniere wagon Obee posted I decided to try and make my own out of a cheap BMC wagon I had kicking around. I cut it down in size and pieced it back together and used a couple of old paint brushes to the front to attach the horse. The wheels are from a AIP French cannon. Here are a couple of ruff pics on side of the BMC wagon before and after. The white piece in the middle is how much I cut off the origanal and I moved the location of the wheels also. I did a bit more work since the photos and swopped out the paint brushes for a better fitting pair and I also did a bit more work on the wagon, I hope to have it painted up soon. Here is a picture of what I.m trying to shoot for, not quite right but close enough. I,m sure there were various wagon styles any way. napoleon-cantiniere-set-same-scale_1_d9e504150bccf20051dff78426671d50 (1).jpg

That's working fine, taking out that section make sit look less 'American' so maybe all you now need to do is to bend the draw bars and give it a paint job !!!

WELL DONE,

John

Ok, I tried to bend the draw bars a bit and added some wire through them to attach the horses and put a quick coat of krylon fusion primer on it but was not happy with how runny the fusion primer was! maybe I needed to shake it more? going to switch back to my army painter primer, I used this because it better at sticking to plastic??? I added some pieces of plastic to the seat also and built it up. Do the draw bars look better now? It was hard to bend them and I had to do the hot/cold water shock so they would not break. You've made a very good job of your conversion. Well done !:salute::

Wow! Great to see your work again! I painted my Napoleonics pretty nonstop during our Covid shut-down until the holidays, but haven't touched anything since, despite many unfinished projects. You may have just inspired me back into action.
