In the last decade? Certainly the Battle of the Big Horn - dynamic sculpts, great colours and dripping with real frenetic energy when displayed - excellent stuff!
Interesting, sort of a prelude to Cattle Drive. Certainly a classic theme.
K&C's Afrika Korps series is my favorite.
My first theme Mark, and the one that really got me into K&C. I think it's probably the theme I have the most pieces as well. Always enjoyed photographing as well.
Hands down Ancient Egypt, the fascination of the Pyramids and the array of figures K&C have offered covering this era. Any number of dioramas can be done and lately the added bonus jumping forward three thousand years with Howard Carter. Also plenty of dio pieces to incorporate just make this series one of K&C best.
I've certainly enjoyed New/Carter Egypt, Robin, ever since that first 4-figure set purchased as a Christmas gift. I've loved every additional figure and with Poirot from Death on the Nile, that makes 13 in the line-up (also pictured by K&C in one of the diorama images). I have the pieces as part of a permanent bookshelf diorama with the Tut Monument being the center piece. I equally enjoyed seeing your "Time On My Hands" dioramas relating to Ancient Egypt and the Mummy certainly adds a fun element for me. Would love to see a few new pieces and accessories in the future.
Very good question you pose Rob…And for me to answer it is very difficult…a bit like ‘Which of your children do you love the most?’...
At the end of the day I still enjoy working on ALL of K&C’s many different series and ranges and thank the good Lord for my good fortune to be able to go into work each day and help design and produce so many little figures and other items that give so many people around the world so much FUN!
Hi Andy, I truly enjoy when you share your thoughts in topics like this. Interesting to hear your line-up and I'm sure it is difficult with so many great ones. While I don't have any of the Brits from the FoB/Dunkirk collection, I love the civilians and French figures that have made fine additions to my Normandy Village diorama (another permanent bookshelf dio). Spent many hours re-configuring the buildings to get them "just right". I love that Run Rabbit Run video you shared a few years back.
our personal favs include Ancient Egypt & The Crusades. We love our ECW...Let's Keep Up This Kind of Fun!
Hey Paddy, I've enjoyed seeing your table dioramas. Great stuff!
A few themes I've had a lot of fun with in no particular order:
Cattle Drive & KingsX Cowboys: I particularly enjoyed creating a deserving wild west saloon and store hopping for interior details for the bar. That was really fun!
Discovering Tutankhamun: I've always liked the desert-related themes and there's been some wonderful pieces to this Ancient Egypt sub-theme. The Tut Monument, I think, is a work of art, and I love the classic horror tie-in with the Mummy. I had a lot of fun configuring the sandstone blocks and creating interior tombs and outdoor archaeology sites to photograph.
Kriegsmarines: Long since-retired, I had purchased a Seehundt mini sub and was determined to find every piece in the collection. Took me over a year searching for each figure all over the country. Looking back, it was fun, esp. when finding that a certain store/seller had a particular figure.
War in the Pacific: Made many tabletop dioramas with US Marines vs. Japanese. Reminds me of the old Marx Battlefield sets when I was a kid. Love the camo associated with this theme. Not sure why, but during a stop in a local pet shop, I ended up purchasing a fish tank and some supplies to create an Aquarium display as my small current diorama with pieces from this theme.
Afrikakorps & British 8th: My personal favorite war-time era and probably the theme I most photographed over the years.
Normandy Village: I enjoyed creating a townscape with K&C's building facades and adding various figures to the scene.
Really enjoy reading your thoughts. Big thanks to K&C for making it all possible! Here's a few pictures from the themes I' mentioned above. Feel free to add your own.
As Paddy said, "Let's Keep Up This Kind of Fun"!
