ROTHKO---Russell Crowe, Aaron Taylor-Young, Jared Harris and Aisling Franciosi will star in this movie about famous painter Mark Rothko's daughter, Kate, and her battle against her father's estate executors to preserve his legacy.
TALISMAN---Steven Spielberg/Duffer Brothers/Netflix miniseries underway based on the horror novel co-written by Stephen King.
PEPE LE PEW---NEW YORK TIMES columnist Charles M. Blow, who wrote the controversial column “Six Seuss Books Bore a Bias", wrote that the Warner Bros. cartoon character and amorous French skunk Pepe Le Pew, "normalized rape culture", “As a child, I was led to believe that Blackness was inferior. And I was not alone. The Black society into which I was born was riddled with these beliefs. It happened for children in the most inconspicuous of ways: It was relayed through toys and dolls, cartoons and children’s shows, fairy tales and children’s books...Some of the first cartoons I can remember included Pepé Le Pew, who normalized rape culture.”
Blow added, “1. He grabs/kisses a girl/stranger, repeatedly, [without] consent and against her will. 2. She struggles mightily to get away from him, but he won’t release her 3. He locks a door to prevent her from escaping… This helped teach boys that 'no' didn’t really mean no, that it was a part of 'the game', the starting line of a power struggle. It taught overcoming a woman’s strenuous, even physical objections, was normal, adorable, funny. They didn’t even give the woman the ability to SPEAK.”
A Pepe Le Pew scene in SPACE JAM: A NEW LEGACY, was filmed but then removed in 2020 before Blow's column appeared. The scene was described as, "Pepe was set to appear in a black-and-white Casablanca-like Rick’s Cafe sequence. Pepe, playing a bartender, starts hitting on a woman at the bar played by Santo. He begins kissing her arm, which she pulls back, then slamming Pepe into the chair next to hers. She then pours her drink on Pepe, and slaps him hard, sending him spinning in a stool, which is then stopped by LeBron James’ hand. James and Bugs Bunny are looking for Lola, and Pepe knows her whereabouts. Pepe then tells the guys that Penelope cat has filed a restraining order against him. James makes a remark in the script that Pepe can’t grab other Tunes without their consent."
IMPEACHMENT: AMERICAN CRIME STORY---Edie Falco will play Hillary Clinton in the FX anthology series about Bill Cinlton's impeachment after the Monica Lewinsky sex scandal. Clive Owen will play Bill Clinton.
