Again, big thanks to you and Matt. I keep filling my playlists with your suggestions.
Thank you, you are most welcome. I have my records still, but my CDs are on my hard drive so I usually listen that way. I only rarely listen on You Tube, but wow, what variety.

I hope you like these.

live 8 Pink Floyd - last reunion

Coldplay / Richard Ashcroft - Bittersweet Symphony

The Killers - All These Things That I've Done (Live 8 2005)

Thanks, not something I would have necessarily picked out for myself but a good song.

A bit old school but ...

Matt's Vietnam thread got me thinking. Some random 1960’s pop … surprised at some of the Vietnam war content of some ...

Kev, great songs from the Vietnam War era.

Reminds me that the performers weren't safe when they performed for troops in Vietnam.

For example Aussie singers "Pattie" (Patricia Amphlett) and "Col Joye and the Joy Boys" were perfoming a concert when the Battle for Long Tan broke out Four kilometers away. Interesting to note that Pattie is the first cousin of Chrissy Amphlett, the lead singer of The Divinyls.

Cousin Chrissy was a bit more 'Racey' than Pattie, at least when performing ;)

The Divinyls were underrated, great band!

Alice in Chains...
Rooster...

video is a little graphic if that bothers you...but I'm sure we have all seen worse on TV...

The Alice in Chains song "Rooster" is a tribute to guitarist Jerry Cantrell's father and his traumatic experiences during the Vietnam War. The "Rooster" nickname came from Cantrell Sr.'s childhood as his hair stood up in the back and his "cocky" attitude. The lyrics are written from the perspective of a soldier facing combat, reflecting on the horrors of war, the loss of friends, and the enduring will to survive. The song is considered a personal healing process for Cantrell and his father.

Being a pom I did not know the singers depicted in Danger Close (great film btw - watched it at least half a dozen times).

Col Joye was the first Aussie musician to have a national Australian hit with 'Oh Yeah, Uh Huh' back in 1959, he kicked off the career of Little Pattie and the Bee Gees, but was virtually unknown overseas.

Little Pattie's biggest hit (I think)

My brother lives in Melbourne and has a house on the beach in Perth. He says this is the first song he listens to when he gets back to Perth.

The Divinyls had some great songs, Chrissy often wore a Black School girls uniform when performing, not sure if she beat Angus Young (AC/DC) to wearing school uniforms, but she was certainly more attractive

'Rage' is an Australian Music TV program, it started in 1987 and still airs Fridays and Saturdays.

Have you visited your brother in Australia, Melbourne and Perth are both great cities but I prefer Perth myself, Melbourne is too cold for me, but may suit people from the Northern Hemisphere best.

Interesting insight MM, I've always liked their 'cover' of Barracuda.

Thanks for posting this, I did not know this song. I have all the early Genesis albums up to Then There were Three, I did not like them as much after that, despite their success.

Sounds like you have a lucky brother, all the best.
