My D day Dio part 1. (1 Viewer)

Excellent effects in the dio. The water looks especially eefective with the foam and bits of debris in it. The sand is well done with a strip of wet sand then dry. Is that actual sand?

How did you do the barbed wire?

Looking forward to the German fortifications - no doubt 2 atlantic wall bunkers

Terry

Thanks Terry.Yes that is real sand, funnily enough I found the sand from Normandy more difficult to work with, larger grains etc.So this is a very fine sand from a place called Camber sands on the South coast.

The barbed wire is from JG,it comes rolled up.I unravelled it and gave it coats of two differing rust colours,so hopefully it looks like its in the middle of rusting in the salty sea air.

Yes if the Budget allows there will be two fortifications, depends on whether Father Christmas thinks I've been good this year!;)

Hi Rob,

Thanks very much for sharing your fantastic D-Day diorama with us.

You did a brilliant job with the "tidal wash" on the beach.

It must have been hard work getting that right.

Great Job !!

Raymond.

Thanks Raymond,it did take a long time to get it right.I was also waiting on some modelling materials, paint etc,and a postal strike held it up for ages, frustrating when you want to make progress!.

Thanks for your comments

Rob

Impressive work Rob! You've really managed to convey the drama of the event.

I think it's wonderful that so many people are putting their figures into scenes and photographing them for us to all enjoy.
