I thought I would start a new thread of my JJD WWII BH collection display separate from my Inter-War Aviation USS Saratoga thread. Arriving on board this morning was JJD BH-18N WWII Aircraft Carrier Flight Deck Crew Walking. This is a six-figure set featuring 2 (red) Fuel and Ordnance crew, 2 (green) Deck Maintenance crew, and 2 (blue) Plane Handlers. A very nice set at a very good price considering its a six-figure set. All they can do for now is mill about the deck waiting for an airplane to touchdown. Hoping the Corsair will soon arrive . . . .

"On the flight deck, prepare for recovery"...................."I love the smell of AV Fuel in the morning, it smells like flight ops"{sm3}{sm4}^&cool

Plenty of room on your deck Mike for the Corsairs to park. Already looking fairly spectacular. Robin.

Glad you can appreciate the activity on a flight deck Joe. I am having a good time developing this display.

Thanks Robin . . . . I know I have the room for at least two corsairs. I am hoping that John releases a pair of them with different ID numbers. That way I can display one with folded wings and the other with its wings down. I also plan on getting the K&C TBM Avenger when it is released and I think I'll have room for that one too.

Looking good Mike, can't wait to see some planes on the deck!

REALLY Great, Mike,
I am still working on mine, but far behind you at this point.

Hopefully, my Bunker Hill decks sections will be here this month and then more figures.
Until then I will have to live through you and your set-ups. {sm4}

Thanks Larry . . . Mine is still a work in progress too. I am really hoping that the Corsair is released soon. My deck crew needs a plane to service . . . .

Here is the identifier card I made for my Bunker Hill display . . . . This incorporates the USS Bunker Hill (CV-17) and the Carrier Air Group CVG-84 mascot art. CVG-84 consisted of Corsairs, Hell Divers, and TBM Avengers which is signified by the three wolf caricatures holding wing guns, a bomb, and a torpedo . . . .

The Carrier/CVG Patches are terrific Mike and they really add to the story. My avatar is my first squadron's patch and I treasure it. I love this range but have no more room or extra funds for it. So I will appreciate it vicariously through you and others.:salute:::salute:::salute::

Thanks Joe . . . . Each of the individual squadrons in CVG-84 had a similar patch to the air group's . . . . the fighter squadron VF-84's patch had only one wolf holding a wing mounted machine gun, the bombing squadron VB-84's patch had one wolf throwing a bomb, and the torpedo bombing squadron had one wolf carrying a torpedo. I am expecting some more crew figures for the SARA any day now. More photos to follow when they arrive.

Here are the individual squadron patches for VF-84, VB-84, and VT-84 . . . .

Mike it's very interesting to me how integrated the CAG squadron patches were to each other as also tied into the CAG. That wasn't in effect during my time. What was similar was the initial number(s) of the squadrons to the CAG number. My Avatar was for VF142 and the CAG was 14. That was the same for the other fighter squadron and 2 of the three attack squadrons. My 2nd squadron was VF114 in CAG 11. I'm out of the loop as to what it looks like today.

Well Joe, we know that the only constant is that nothing is constant or remains the same . . . .

How true, how true brother! So bring on the new. And can't wait to see your coming additions. "Ready to turn into the wind!!"

Mike, an interesting sidelight to this thread happened this morning. While watching TV, a commercial for a legal firm representing mesothelioma cases came on. Many of the cases have to do with cause from working with or around aspestos. An elderly couple were being shown, and the man had a Navy ball cap on with "Bunker Hill, CV-21". Nasty stuff......................Joe

Asbestos is a nasty player . . . . My father was in the submarine service in the Pacific during WWII. Subs in those days had lots of asbestos used in them. Dad passed away at 85 from complications due to pulmonary fibrosis. My brother and I have always thought that perhaps his illness was from the asbestos exposure during his service . . . .

On another note . . . CV-21 was the USS Boxer, launched in Dec 1944 too late to be engaged in the war. The Bunker Hill was CV-17 . . . .

Oops Mike, my bad..................Aging is another nasty player............Joe

Arriving on the USS Bunker Hill's deck this morning was BH-19N Aircraft Carrier Flight Deck Crew 6-figure set . . . . PLUS the model prototype of John's soon to be released Corsair which I was the very fortunate winner and recipient as an outcome of John's 2017 Chicago show treasure hunt. The Corsair prototype is absolutely beautiful . . . the final release product should be just stunning . . . . More photos to follow as I continue my play (or should I say Plane) time . . . .
