My King & Country Acquisitions Blitz (2 Viewers)

Ver few threads make me jealous. This one does. Amazing buying spree.:salute::

Yikes! I didn't mean to make anyone jealous, but I just wanted to share my incredible good fortune to be able to acquire a substantial K&C collection in very short order.

This is the bottom shelf of the curio (before I add two more shelves) which has K&C panzer grey vehicles. I just counted the number of Wheels and Tracks sets that I have on display in the new curio and bookcase, at this point in time, and came up with eighty-one. One would think that I would know how many more I have and have not yet displayed, but I am not sure since they are located in four different parts of the house or garage. However, it is at least 16 more.

And now for the most important photo of all, Jean, my lovely wife of 52 years who tolerates all this temporary (?) insanity.

I have incorporated four K&C vehicles into my completed Battle of the Bulge bookcase diorama.

So your strategy is to stuff her with food (one cracker) and drunk on one weak American beer? Good luck:rolleyes2: And then what? When she comes to and notices all the models, tell her they were always here. {sm3}

That might have worked if it was beer that she was drinking. It was actually a Diet Coke.

This is the last group of major acquisitions on my K&C blitz. With these acquisitions, I now have exactly 110 Wheels and Tracks sets and more than 100 other K&C infantry, artillery, crew, landing craft, facades, etc. sets. This group includes the British M3 Grant and the Hummel which were on my must have list, both of which I paid more for than any other sets. I must say that while I have been collecting for more than 25 years, this K&C acquisition blitz represents the most intense and expensive effort to add to my collection over the shortest period of time to date.

Thanks Amber. You're right, some of these were retired many years ago, so I am happy to have found them. Mike.

In the bin mate, the new cabinet is nice.

Wayne,

Here is where I am storing my empty boxes, at least for the time being. Since K&C boxes are attractive, I may just keep them here.

Mike

I now more or less have most of my new K&C acquisitions on display with the exception of 15 sets. The new Pulaski curio and the new bookcase are now out of space for additional sets. I also cleared an additional shelf in my original toy soldier room to display the K&C sets that have extra long guns that wouldn't fit in the new curio or book case.

Curio photos.

Wow what a truly amazing effort. Shelves are a little too crowded for my personal liking to be able to appreciate the superb models. But there is no denying the amount of miniature hardware on display.
Gary

Thanks Gary. I agree that the shelves are more crowded than I would like in a perfect world, but to display them otherwise would mean that I would have to remove a couple of AFVs per shelf and not display them at all. At two per shelf, it would involve removing 20 AFVs which I have too much money invested in them for that to be a prudent move. Besides, I want to see them rather than store them. Mike

Sometimes I break up the shelf with small squares of terrain and squares of exposed glass to reduce the cramped space look or angle the display and have AFVs driving up the middle and AFVs parked to the sides

Thanks Terry. Very nice. I may give it a try. Mike

Here are a few more recent additions which, at the moment, I have no place to display them.

Here are a few more sets that I recently picked up. I am also currently bidding on more than half a dozen K&C sets on eBay and at auction; we shall see how that goes.
