Hi guys,

I regualry update my website to show off, to a waiting world, the figures that I have painted in past couple of months.

Its a way for collectors to see what is available as castinigs from makers around the world, and to see new figures that are now in the market.

All of the images are now on my website, but I thought that Forum members, who haven't seen my site, may also like to view my work.

The URL is http://www.upnaway.com/~obees/soldiers/

Now for the troops:

If you haven't been aware of John's site you've missed out not only on viewing some of the finest painted figures by him from around the world in both metal and plastic. He's been providing us who've been aware of it a vast amount of knowledge of the hobby along with those who contribute to our hobby in various venues. Do yourself a favorite and visit it if you've not been aware of it and for those of you who haven't for awhile you've been missing out. Thanks John for sharing it over the years. ....The Lt.

Impressive painting skills indeed and great website! Thanks for sharing.

Great stuff John, but I think you need to concentrate more on WWII ;) :D

Top notch painting as always John......:).
I allways found your website great for finding whats out there in the land of castings.

John,

Impressive quantity for a couple of months!!......I used to paint at least a hundred glossies a month when I painted for Sarum some years ago but lately I struggle to find any time to paint. :(

I find your website a real gem, whats next?? ;):)

Jeff, and others,

thanks for you kind comments about my painting, I really appreciate what you guys have said, it keep me going :)

As far a whats coming next...

I'm currently painting 5 x 90mm K/S Pewter American Rev War figures that I got in a group sold off from a deceased estate here in Australia. Most were 54mm, but these are different size and so need a different painting technique, just like the 90mm Stadden.

A freined of mine here in Perth has left me 3 drummer kits to paint for him over the next 2 months, Andera, Minwelt and a British maker (can't remember). They will all be matt finish.

Another set from All The Kings Men 1812 set, but this time I'll paint them as British, including an Artillery set.

Phew, then its about Christmas and I make about a dozen drummer boys from Prince August Moulds for friends as presents....

Keep a lookout in December for my next update,

John

Wayne & Matt,

have you had a look at my WW2 page ????

http://members.upnaway.com/~obees/soldiers/ww2.htm

After seeing pre 1900 uniforms you will notice that all after (except parade uniforms) are all SO dab and colourless with that "can't see me" camouflage colours...

Give me white belts, red coats (or blue) and feather in the hats any day........

I am with you John. Your painting is most impressive and it would seem a pity to divert it to the drab and colorless.;):D

John, you have to move with the times, Camo is the new Red :D

Matt,

OK I'll agree with cammo being the new red, but thats because it So common..... but I have painted some recently and even more modern that WW2, (that you collect)even more modern that Korea or Vietnam.......

and our very own SAS Regt. in Vietman 1969 and Afghanistan 2003

but it still doesn't come close to a colourful Napoleonic Band uniform..

There's a definite difference between the Cammo guys being 'covert' and those Napoleonic Band members acting all 'overt' like they're on their way to a Mardi Gras  :D
