Great pics Rob, thanks. I can hardly wait for mine to arrive, along with the Tilley and K2!I guess I'm out of control as well but this RAF series is awesome.
I've never seen a Spit or Hurricane in flight but that sure must be an awe inspiring sight. I wonder if a control tower is even feasible, it would be huge right?
Rob...
I think the control tower will be a cert. There is nothing better than the roar of a spit engine or the lanc come to think of that and, having watched them do flights around lincoln when I was at uni its an awesome sight to see these flying low over the cathederal.
Your aircraft look excellent toghether
Mitch
Just got the LCVP and FW-190 !!
Think I'll sell one of my kidneys to get this one !
Great pictures, thanks for sharing
Rob
Andy did a "Watch Tower" for the AK Range - I think he could do a Control Tower for the RAF ?![]()
Unforgettable special day indeed mate and, er, right you are on that. Thanks Bill, just in time indeed mate.Am so proud this year, you may have noticed that!
Some years back Bill, myself and my good lady went to Duxford Air show to see this huge gathering of WW2 aircraft including the biggest gathering of Spits and Hurricanes in the world at that point. Having watched these glorious aircraft for sometime we decided to beat the rush and leave early. We drove a short distance up the road from Duxford, parked the car, climbed over a fence and into this field (tresspassing I guess!).We were the only people in the field as we watched open mouthed as the Spits and Hurricanes time after time came roaring in above our own little field just feet above our heads. Truly jaw dropping, it was like they were putting on a show just for us, I will never forget it, there is something about the roar of those engines that brings a lump to the throat- but hey, look who I'm saying this to Bill
This summer it sure feels good to celebrate our Heroes and their Victory, just for a while we can put aside pc considerations and glory in their finest hour, wonderful stuff Bill

Hey Rob- I got home and found my Spitfire waiting for me. Actually I was lucky it was waiting for me as the courier had left it in the front garden under the window!! Luckily it survived the rain and anybody sneaking it away!
Couldn't wait to open it. It really is a superb piece. Absolutely one of the best items in my collection. To be honest I really can't afford it having got the ambulance last week but what the heck! I just had to get this one. Reluctantly I've missed out on the RAF Austin but you can't always have it all!

Congrats, Rob. Those two birds look great together.I bet you're glad you took a gamble on the RAF range!

That is a beautiful looking plane Rob. The Spitfire was probably the sleekest most graceful looking fighter of all time. I have many Spits in my aircraft collection and I wish I could afford this one at this time, but I'm holding out for a new USAAF plane.
I had one incident like this where I was not in and the driver through it over the back fence onto the concrete patio. My old neighbour watched him from his window and, it must have went about twenty feet from gate to eventual resting place. Only sturdy packing saved quite a valuable piece.
Its annoying when they treat stuff like this. At least all ended well

I worked in the post office for many years until I did my back, honestly guys if you saw some of the things that went on in there, well put it this way, you'd get in your car and go deliver the item you want sent yourself!
Rob
How cool would a desert Spitfire be with the big air filter on the front , great call RobI knew one manager who was a really nice bloke, but quite bonkers. He would perch on the window sill of the canteen overlooking the high st, and fire at us with a paint ball rifle as we came back from delivery. What the public must have thought as posties were shot from nearby windows is anybodys guess.
Anyhoo back to the thread!
Anybody think that as we just had a Desert ME109 its old enemy the Spit may arrive in Desert camo?.

Is that with 50mm cannons under the wing RobThat would be very nice, and then we'd need Desert RAF figures
Actually the aircraft I'd like to see for the Desert most of all is the Hurricane MKII 'Tank Buster' .
