My trip to the US! (1 Viewer)

The next day Chris took me to the airport and I jumped on a plane to Vegas! I stayed at the MGM Grand which is the same hotel casino I stayed in when I was last in Vegas 20 years ago.

One of my highlights in Vegas was a trip to a place called "Battlefield Vegas"! Basically it's an indoor shooting range where you can fire off any type of weapon you wished for a price! It depended on how much money you have for the ammo! I chose a World War 2 German MG42 machine gun and pardon the pun, it was a blast! I paid $100 USD for 40 rounds and it was all gone in less than 10 seconds!!! Despite the cost it was bloody awesome to fire and I can only imagine the poor Allied blokes that had to face this fearsome weapon. I might add that I was able to hit most of the target and I was given the thumbs up by the RO! The range and business is run by ex military people and they pick you up and drop you back to your accommodation free of charge in an authentic Humvee! They have all types of weapons from World War 1, 2, post war, cold war and modern stuff. They even have a mini gatling gun you can fire off! I passed on that one as my pockets weren't deep enough!!! There biggest customers are British, Canadian's and of course us Aussie blokes.

Some more and they also have quite a few armoured vehicles on display including a tank that they run over a car for entertainment. I didn't see that while I was there.

After saying seeya to Rick I headed down to old Vegas to have a look at the sights. They have done this area up pretty well and the light and sound shows in the evening are spectacular.

I'll leave it at that but I will post some more pic's on the weekend of Vegas, Florida and my visit of my good mate, the Duke in Thomasville, Georgia!

Tom,

What a neat trip! I am glad you got in a quite a lot in your time here. Awesome sites! Being on the East Coast, I only get to see the areas you went every few years. I lived in San Fran for a period of about 6 months during the late 90s, awesome town and so much to do!

Thanks for sharing
Tom

Tom mate that looks like an awesome trip glad you had ya camo shorts on with the MG42 that would be #1 on my list.

Great collection as well cheers for posting mate I enjoyed it.

Wow, you packed in a lot of stuff! An Aussie from Darwin has seen more stuff than most Americans!
It was great meeting you in person and hanging out a bit !

Tom...
love how you documented and presented your trip with photographs...
like Zach says...
you have seen things that most Americans have not...
I know you have a lot more to show and am looking forward to it...

Thanks for sharing all the pics! I'm glad you had a good trip, and Mike is right--you've some things most of us haven't. If you ever get to come back up here, maybe you can take in the East Coast and see some of our old colonial past, too.

Prost!
Brad

I agree with Brad...if you ever make it back to the US there are some great sites to see east of the Mississippi!

Thanks Brad and funny you should say that, but I really liked Georgia and I would love to see more of the eastern states such as North and South Carolina, Virginia etc.

Hey Tom,

How come you show up at the Pawn Shop and you do not get hold of Rick or the Old Man....{sm4}{sm4}
Do they actually hang around the shop or only when they are filming the series?
Do they have any toy soldier dept?
Cheers
Luiz
