My WW1 French Shelf Display - Updated! (1 Viewer)

Very nice Roy. Really looks great. Are those the buildings that TM Terrain made for you.

Brad

Hi Brad, Thanks!

Yes they are indeed the ones. They are in 3 separate lengths and weigh hardly anything, (but quite sturdy!)
Very flexible as well - I could change them around or have a new section made to replace another to give a different look.

TM Terrain also made me an awesome 18th Century Eastern European house - I'd certainly recommend David's work.

Cheers,

Roy

Err..... I think you're right Major - my "Double Trouble" Renaults are now a "Triple Threat". I'll see what I can do!

I hope you are keeping very well sir...............

Cheers!

Roy.

I must have missed that one but that is, indeed, a great photo ^&cool

Brad

Thanks Mike, that really is most kind of you. ( they took themselves really...... such fine figures.) Very much appreciated.

Roy

Roy...

my pleasure...and thank you for sharing...

the theme of those two groupings is absolutely brilliant...

you should send those to John...

he would love them...

The WWI figures are clearly John's best and most human. Wonderfully arranged and displayed.

Wonderful scenes, great background to go with a very nice collection. Very well done. Chris

Hi Roy,
Hope you don't mind, but I've 'photoshopped' this one...It's such a great grouping you've made!

Spectacular pieces and a wonderful collection. I hate looking at it because it makes me want to dabble into yet another line that I can ill afford to do!!! :salute::

this thread must be due a new photo Old Bill?! ;)
Hi Major - I've re-arranged my street a little to include the smashing little Renault TSF. A very unusual looking little vehicle - love it!

The Photographer has taken his pics and gone, to be replaced by Charles Nungesser (who has stopped off on his way back from the bordellos of Paris, to his Airfield) to see how the ground War goes...........

I noticed a new blue sky background in two of the pictures, post 34. So I guess you will need to reshoot and repost them all!!!

Really makes it so easy OB when you have a permanent display, just need to tweak a little each time a new release arrives. Has to be the best way to enjoy this hobby.^&cool, Robin.

Hi Fraxinus,

I thought you might notice! I tried a piece of blue card behind the wall section - and yes you are right! It does make a huge difference. Thank you for the advice.
( I still can't paint the wall........ so I'm looking to mount some kind painted card/thin board onto the wall.

Cheers,
Roy

I suggest buying a "plastic or resin" wall panel board and then paint it a sky blue - they come 4 foot x 8 foot and are 0.125 inch or less in width. At Home Depot in the US, they are found in same aisle as the plywood. In the 60th thread (about 10 threads below), the parade ground of the fort is single piece of board with a small stipule manufactured on it for texture. They also come smooth. Home Depot even did the cutting to size, so all I had to do was paint and then drop it in. The key advantages were the elimination of seams that I loathed in the parade ground, the 0.090 inch thickness and the light weight.

Just measure the sizes of the pieces needed and a "good" store should be able to cut them for you.

As it seems to be relatively "quiet" at the moment I thought I'd resurrect this thread to add my latest and pretty much final take on my WW1 French shelf display.

Basically A busy French forward area - Renault tank detachment just moving out ahead of incoming French infantry. There are quite a few subtle conversions scattered about.

Cheers!
