N.f.l. 2010 season (1 Viewer)

Took a look back at my predictions; wow was I out in left field, Jets/Cowboys or Vikings in the Super Bowl, guess I bought into that overstuffed gasbag down in New Jersey and his bluster during the preseason.

Saw on ESPN him making bold predictions about the Jets going to the Super Bowl this year and how the game Saturday is "personal" between him and Manning.

This guy will never learn to just drink a nice tall glass of ST*U................

Don't worry, look at my NFC picks, Skins, 49ers, Cards, Cowboys, maybe I should have predicted the worst teams in football!!!

yea ol Ryan just can't keep it quiet on the big stage, never has never will, the same way in Baltimore, he was just a defensive coach then so no big deal, me thinks Payton will make it even more personal with another win against Ryan...Sammy

Willing to bet your dio on that Sammy?

ha!!! not a chance in you know where!!!, I do think it will be a close game, but Payton seems to find another gear in these playoff games, I was soooooo glad to start out in KC instead of Indy, like I said two teams always scare me...Colts/Steelers, but I hope that the Jets beat the colts, maybe we'll see each other later in the playoffs...Sammy

The only two games this weekend I am sure enough that I would be willing to bet on are New Orleans over Seattle and Baltimore over Kansas City.

I suspect that the Colts will find a way to beat the Jets, but in last years game, until their #2 Cornerback got injured returning a kick at the end of the first half, and their running back Green got injured in the first series of the second half, the Jets were looking like the better team. The Colts are not as good as they were last year, due to injuries primarily at the receiver and tight end positions, and the Jets have a better #2 cornerback in Cromarte. To me the key to the game is finding a way to keep the Colts' two fast but undersized DE's Freeney and Mathis off Sanchez, and finding a way to take away the Colts back up tight end, Tammy, who has become Manning's safety blanket. I don't believe the Jets will be able to do either effectively for the entire game, so I see the Colts winning.

The Packers and the Eagles are too closely matched for me to call, and I see this game as the best game of the weekend. After Bellichek, Andy Reed, the Eagles coach, gets the most out of his talent of any coach in the league. His defense should not be any good, yet he manages to win. Vick is his entire running game, yet he manages to win. He makes gutsy calls, like the onside kick with 7 minutes left in the Giants debacle (however, only the Giants inept coaching staff didn't see it coming - it wouldn't have worked against a competent coaching staff). With Aaron Rogers healthy, and the offensive line finally coming together, the Packers are the most dangerous wild card team since 2007. They also have the kind of athletic defensive line needed to contain Vick. The game could go either way, but I see big plays from the Eagles special teams and Rogers getting himself hurt trying to make a play with his feet against a vicious and dirty Eagles team (I am sure Reed has instructed them to aim for Rogers' head any chance they get, with his history of concussions) being the difference.

??? Didnt they play each other a few weeks or a month or so ago?? I thought Philly owned the Pack?? I also don't see dirty hits from the eagles- i may be blind, but that has never been eagles football- i can see some of their fans taking shots at rodgers before the players do.

Chris,

Tradionally, the Eagles have always been among the dirtiest teams in the league. For 15 years their Left Tackle (whose name escapes me, maybe Runyon (?) he retired two years ago) was the consensus dirtiest player in the league. The Eagles are also famous for putting bounties on players. Reed will do anything to win, whether inside the rules or not. That's why I think they win this week, setting up a rematch with the Bears.

hmmm. interesting- I think I do recall hearing that about Runyon. Don't mean to sound flip or sarcastic, just never heard it before- I am a Dallas fan too so any mud on the eagles is good to me. Just can't say I have ever heard it before-heard it about the Raiders, just can't say the Iggles.

Seattle may lose by 30 today. The Seahawk assistant coaches are among the worst in the NFL. I watched these get schooled at the college level last year by inferior teams. The Saints are going to make this ugly.

Let's hope so. Seattle has no business in the playoffs. Like to see the defending champs make a run. -- Al

Don't forget that a new overtime rule is in effect. Hitting a Fg will not automatically win the game for you. The other team gets a chance to score. However, if you score a TD, game over.

Hmmm....maybe they aren't that bad:)...Sammy

Hasselback throws 4 TDs and they put 41 on the Saints. I would never have guessed in a million years. That Seattle crowd really fed into Pete's rah-rah style today and had them playing with some fire.

Disappointing half by Sanchez so far. Unless corrected, the season will be over.

Well. color me perplexed. Saints really screwed it up. Have to congratulate the Seahawks even though they still shouldn't be in the playoffs. All they have to do is win one more game and they will be a .500 team! That game clinching TD run was a classic, one of the best I have ever seen. Broke something like 8 contacts. -- Al

Jets win on last minute FG. Game was pretty close, as figured. Tough break for the Colt's but giving the ball back with any time left on the clock proves fatal again. Colt defense couldn't get it done while the Jets kept the Colts off the field. Congratulations. -- Al

Couple of good games (and one big shocker) yesterday. A pair of good ones today, as well. Hope the Ravens show up and play well with no late game field length drive given up by the defense, again. As an aside and off the subject, UMd basketball team plays #1 Duke tonight. UMd has a habit of knocking off #1's, so it should be a good game. Gary Williams has more wins against #1's than any other active coach, seven, including two against Duke. -- Al

I am not sure whether the Seahawks should be congratulated, or the Saints should be censured for simply not showing up for a playoff game defensively. The Seahawks had a tough time scoring 16 points against a mediocre Rams defense, and then hung 41 on the Saints, a team that is supposed to have a good defense? The Saints D should be ashamed of itself.

Anyway, I guess it shows that there really is no such thing as a sure thing. I'm glad I didn't have any money on that game.
