Yes, you're correct. Giants minus 3. I was trying to post as well as watch Iowa vs Oklahoma, a somewhat dreary game. The bowl games I've watched so far haven't been great. ND was a disappointment.

Well today is the last day of the season, with still a lot to be decided.

Tonight the Giants and the Cowboys will go head to head with everything on the line.

This afternoon the Broncos and Bengals also control their own destiny, win and they're in.

This afternoon the Raiders, Titans and Jets have to win and hope for help to get in.

Sadly, I have absolutely no confidence in any of the above listed teams to get the job done today, or to do anything in the playoffs for the above teams which do find a way to get in.

Finally, this afternoon the Colts and the Rams must each hope to lose to win the Andrew Luck sweepstakes.

My prediction: None of the above teams will win a playoff game. Denver gets crushed by the Steelers in the Wildcard round, the Raiders lose to Houston. The Giants lose at home to the Lions, and the Saints crush the Falcons.

Greenbay beats the Lions, a dome team, on the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field, the 49ers edge the Saints, a dome team, in cold and windy conditions at Candlestick. Patriots beat Houston in Foxboro, the Ravens beat the Steelers in Baltimore.

The 49ers shock the Packers in Greenbay in the NFC Championship game, their superior defense and run game making the terrible weather conditions at Lambeau work against the Packers passing attack, the Ravens roll over the Patriots in Foxboro in the AFC Championship.

In the Superbowl, the Ravens beat the 49ers in the first ever Superbowl battle of brothers (the Harbaughs).

Of course, all of these are assuming that the 49ers win today and remain in the 2nd cede with a bye. If the Saints and 49ers flip flop, and the Saints have a bye and are hosting a Divisional playoff game, I will obviously have to redo my predictions.:wink2:

I like the way you think, especially in regards to the Ravens. A long way to go, though. For me, it's the Ravens OR anyone but the Packers. -- Al

Al,

If the Ravens win today, I see them in the Superbowl. With a first round bye and home games at least until the AFC Championship, they should cruise through the AFC. Especially as, should the Patriots lose at home in the Divisional Round, the Ravens would host the AFC championship, and they are 8-0 at home this season.

If they lose today, however, they are in big trouble, as I can't see the Steelers losing to the Browns. If they have to go on the road, having gone 3-5 on the road this season (assuming they lose today), I can't see them getting through.

Louis,
I like your predictions, I hope and pray the 49er's can somehow beat the Packers, but their offense is dreadful, they'll have to do it with defense and turnovers.

IF the Patriots actually win a playoff game and host the AFCCG, I can't see the Ravens coming in here and beating them if they are the Patriots opponents, they stink on ice as you like to say on the road.

If it's Ravens/49er's, it will be one of the most boring Super Bowls in history, final score 5-3 with the 49ers winning on a safety.

I don't like the Ravens at all, they never should have been allowed to leave Cleveland and the Colts never should have been allowed to leave Baltimore either.................

George,

I 100% agree with you about teams moving from city to city. In addition to the teams you mentioned, the Rams should still be in Los Angeles, the Cardinals should still be in St. Louis, the Braves should still be in Boston, the Rangers should still be in Washington D.C. (the Senators), the Giants and the Dodgers should be in New York and Brooklyn.

I'll take it one step further - I hate expansion teams. They have watered down the league, especially MLB, to the point where about half the starting pitching in MLB should never have sniffed triple A, much less the majors.

Unless Romo is almost healthy, I don't see the Giants losing to the Cowboys, for all the reasons I've stated previously.

In the AFC, I also don't have any confidence in any of the teams playing for something today. However, I do see the Jets squeaking out a win, the Ravens losing, the Broncos losing, the Raiders winning and the Titans losing, which means, Pats will be the number one seed, Steelers number 2, Ravens number 5 and Bengals number 6. I like the Pats to win it in the AFC, giving truth to the words the best defense is a good offense.

In the NFC, I think Lions will be dangerous as I think they are a dome team that can win on the road. I think 49ers can win but again the best defense is a good offense particularly when the defense is not that good and it will be an offensive SB, Pats vs GB, with New England dreaming revenge.

With the Giants vs the Cowboys, I don't see the Romo injury as being the only key injury which plays against the Cowboys winning - they lost their starting Guard to a torn biceps muscle, and their offensive line is really in trouble, and looked horrible against the Eagles last week. The Giants defensive line is as healthy as its been all season, with three legitimate edge rushers in Jason Pierre-Paul, Justin Tuck and Osi Umenura, and I think the game will come down to the Giants winning the battle of the trenches, opening holes for Bradshaw and Jacobs and giving Eli time to throw that Romo will lack.

I think your Superbowl predictions have at least as good a chance of playing out as mine, if not more. One thing I am pretty sure of, these are the only teams with a legitimate chance of advancing to the Superbowl: Packers, 49ers, Saints, Patriots, Ravens and Steelers. These teams have separated themselves from the rest of the league pretty much all season, and there are no "hot" wildcard teams like the Giants were in 2007 or Greenbay was last year.

George, Louis, I agree with what you all are saying, from the Ravens and their wildly inconsistent road record, to expansion teams, and teams moving from city to city. I would give up my Tiger tanks to see the Colts in Baltimore where they belong. Irsay should burn in Hades. The football Cardinals started off in Chicago and should have stayed there. I can't, for the life of me, understand the reasoning behind letting a team like the Senators move to Minnesota, the Cards move from St. Louis, or the Browns move to Baltimore and then turn around and put another franchise, whether it's an established team like the Rams, or a new team like the Ravens or new Browns, right back in the same city. It makes no sense. And I think that the SF Giants and the Dodgers should have stayed in NY, too.:wink2: -- Al

Louis...

the Cowboys just placed their two time Pro bowl punter Matt McBriar on IR and are replacing him with rookie punter Chris Jones...

they have every excuse to lose this game and probably will...

Yes, you're right about the reasons for the Giants game, not to mention. The Cowboys secondary is not very good. Tuck playing well last week is a real plus for them. Sounded like he had let his various injuries get to him. I had also heard that Coughlin had a real heart to heart with him. A little pep talk is something we all need from time to time.

Of all the other games that mean something I really don't like the Ravens. Unless they win today, they will probably have to face the Steelers and they aren't going to win for a third time. Flacco is just an enigma to me. After four years, you have to wonder about him.

Brad...the Cowboy's secondary is like a sieve...Newman...Sesabaugh and Jenkins all play too loose...Elam just seems out of every play...NY's receivers should have a field day if Manning can hit 60% and gets no pressure...my only hope is that Manning has a bad day and penalties go my way...sacks cause fumbles...but the prognosis is slim and none...it might be close...but NY will finish on top...it's gonna be a hard game for me to watch...

The good old Redskins went out on typically bad performance and got slaughtered by the Eagles. A fine 5-11 season, after last years 6-10 record. I think they have found the key to a losing formula.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Packers just won shoot-out with Detroit but gave up 520 yards passing. This could spell trouble. Pack has given up lots of points and yards as of late. Wrong time of year to get vulnerable. -- Al

Look at the bright side Al. Maybe they will be able to draft a decent QB.

Hmm, Flacco 4 years in the league 4 years in a row playoff apperances, numerous wins in those playoffs on the road, I can live with that, would I like to see a super bowl?? hell yea, and let's see.. he beat the Steelers in Pitt the last 2 years in a row on last second TD passes, yea he blew in the playoffs last year, but if the score holds(Cinncy game) Pitt will come back to Baltimore for another grudge match, this time they won't recieve 3 gifts in the 3rd quarter like last years playoffs, I'll like my chances with Flacco in the first few years... not Sanchez, Ryan, or any of the younger qbs can match his win-loss record...Sammy

In 2009, Ravens went to the Championship game. In 2010 and 2011 they won the wild card game. I'm not sure how much you attribute that to him or to the defense or both, but they really haven't taken the next step or maybe he hasn't. He hasn't made the leap the big guns have and on occasion you see it and sometimes you don't. If I had my pick between him and Ryan, I would take Ryan. Same question as to him or Stafford, I would take Stafford. Him and Sanchez? He's more advanced than Sanchez but in a way I see them as similar. Sorry, that's just the way I see it.
