By the way, it looks like the defensive coordinators have finally caught up with Tebow. Last week, the Patriots very poor defense totally shut him down, and this week the lowly Bills humiliated him. It looks to me like Tebow time, and its college gimick offense, is pretty much over at the NFL level.

Back to back INT's run back for touchdowns, I guess Jesus was too busy today getting ready for his big birthday bash tomorrow to help bail out Tebow today............

Lots to be decided on the last weekend of the regular season. Ravens-Bengals is big as is Dallas-NY Giants. Bengals playing for their playoff position and the Ravens need to win for home field, which in their case is BIG. Ravens are undefeated at home but are vulnerable on the road. Dallas and NY got a real winner-take-all situation. I don't much like Dallas, under any circumstance, so I will root for the Giants. Having seen the way both teams blow hot and cold, I have no feel for who will win this one. I would say advantage Giants, because of Eli, and especially if Romo is hurt. We'll see. -- Al

Bengals/Ravens should be very interesting as it's right there for the Bengals; win and they're in, lose and they leave the door open for the Jets, Titans, Raiders and Broncos for the last wildcard spot.

If the Ravens lose and the Steelers win (will big Ben play?), they blow the #2 seed and have to go in as a wild card.

Not sure if I'll be able to sleep all week waiting for the Giants/Cowboys game, WOW, what excitement, the winner advances AND gets a home playoff game with a stellar 9-7 record, the loser goes home.

Sorry, but a 9-7 division winner just doesn't work for me, it's a total joke.

The Giants caught a huge break, Romo's throwing hand looks like ground hamburger, can't see how that will be 100% for him on Sunday night, time for Eli to put his game face on instead of the Manning "I'm totally annoyed/upset/pissed off/have my undies in a bunch out here" face.................

It would take a miracle for Jets to get in -- Jets win and losses by Bengals, Titans and Raiders or Broncos -- and, frankly, they don't deserve it. As bad as Giant fans may think their OC is, he has nothing on Schotteheimer -- or should I say ****enheimer?

Whether Giants or Dallas get in (and I will be rooting for D), it really doesn't matter: Lions will destroy them. Maybe the Jets can lend Dallas Revis for the game; he had a great game yesterday.

George I need your Pats to lose to the Bills and my Ravens win in Cinncy to get that home field play-off spot, and the Bills have looked good the last few weeks, either way this is gonna be an exciting last week of the regular season!! let's go Ravens!!!!!!!!!!!!...Sammy

Sammy,

Pats have already locked up that number one spot. If Ravens win next week, they've locked up number 2 and a week off.

I totally disagree, if the Ravens win and Pats lose (both 12-4) the Ravens would take homefield no.1 spot due to the stength of wins over opponents, so come on Bills!!!...Sammy

I just checked the NFL site and you are right, the Ravens can still clinch home field through the playoffs, my apologies. That actually helps the Jets as that means the Ravens will still be playing for something.

I see the Giants-Cowboys game Sunday night as a win-win situation: either the Giants win, make the playoffs and have a reasonable shot of beating a dome team (Lions or Falcons) in a freezing cold and windy January playoff game at the Meadowlands, or the Giants lose, complete their 7th straight second half collapse under Coughlin [they fell apart in the second half of their Superbowl season in 2007, and needed a week 16 win on the road in Buffalo to make the playoffs as a wildcard team], and the GM and coaching staff are history - Bill Cowher would be a very nice late Christmas present for Giants fans.:wink2:

I am betting on Flacco on the road to..........................................not win!!!!! Big Ben doesn't need to play. Batch is lights out as a back up (according to record) and quite frankly if 50% of our D shows up, the Browns can't score. At least on paper, but this is the NFL. In all seriousness, I hope the Steelers just play their game, forget about everybody else. If we get a gift from the Ravens ,then would be happy with 2nd seed and if Pats lose, would be even happier!!!!!!!!

Well, the Bears are eliminated. That's a bummer but not a surprise. They couldn't find a QB to replace Cutler after he was injured in the Chargers game.

Cowher was on the Boomer and Carton Show on WFAN two weeks ago and when asked about the Giants job, he said he was not interested in coaching the Giants or any other team.

I'm going all the way with Brady and the boys
12 and 3 not bad for a team with worst defence in AFL

AFL great game mate, but im backing the SAINTS to go all the way.

Wayne,

With one week to play, the Saints are the third ceed in the playoffs, behind the Packers (1) and the 49ers (2). The Saints are made to play in a dome, inside, and are a different team on the road, outside, particularly in bad weather (heck, the Saints got knocked out by the 7-9 Seahawks in Seattle in last year's playoffs). For the Saints to go all the way, both the Packers (especially, as there is no way a dome team is winning in the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field in mid-January) and the 49ers would have to lose at home before the Saints got matched up with them. That is highly unlikely, unless the injuries to the Packers offensive linemen really expose Aaron Rogers.

Saints are 5-3 on the road, not terrible, though. Against good teams (ones with winning records), in two of their road wins they scored 26 and 20 points. Against bad teams, they scored 23, 30 and 42. Since you face good teams in the playoffs, that would be a cause for concern. In their three losses, they scored 34 (against GB), 20 and 21, meaning that generally on the road, win or lose, they don't usually score more than 26 points. That should also be a cause for concern.

While I agree with your points Brad, I think also, you should take into account that 3 of their road games (Atlanta, St. Louis & Minnesota) were in domes, and three others (Jacksonville, Carolina, Tampa Bay) were early season-good weather and, in 2 cases, artificial turf (i.e. the functional equivalent of a dome).

The Saints have yet to play a bad weather/windy out door game this season, particularly on natural grass, which is what they will be facing in both Green Bay and San Fransisco in mid-January. They lose a good portion of their offensive advantage (speed on turf and the ability to throw the ball deep down the field with pin-point accuracy) under these conditions, and against teams like the 49ers and Packers who are used to natural grass and adverse weather conditions, they are going to have a very difficult time. Historically, no dome team has ever won an NFC or AFC Championship on the road. I'm not saying the Saints are not good enough to overcome these factors, its just something to think about.

In non-dome sites, their record was the following:

34 against GB (L)
20 against Tampa Bay (L)
23 against Jacksonville (W)
30 against Carolina (W)
22 against Titans (W)

Only one of those wins was a winning team.

The precedent that immediately comes to mind (Louis may know of others) is the NFC championship game by the Vikings (a dome team) against the Giants in the year the Ravens won the SB. Game was at Giants Stadium. Vikings were destroyed and didn't score a point.

Agree with Louis' conclusions.

If they play against the 49ers or the Packers, they could be in for a struggle.

I still say the Jets are somehow going to make the playoffs and they'll beat the Texans and the Steelers will beat the Broncos, setting up Patriots/Jets and Ravens/Steelers.

Are the Patriots and the Ravens capable of beating the same team three times in a season; yes, but not likely to happen, it rarely does, so we'll see.

The Patriots haven't won a playoff game since the 2008 AFCCG, followed by that gag job vs the Giants in the 2008 Super Bowl and you win in the playoffs with defense, which they simply do not have this year, their defense is just God awful, it's the offense that has bailed them out.

We'll see how it shakes out sooner than later......
