N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (2 Viewers)

Just want to put this out there for the forum members now...we all have likes and dislikes in all types of activities, and I certainly know this is a open forum for all those to leave posts, comments but at this stage if you're hating the NFL for whatever reasons then this thread won't interest you in the least, basically folks talking NFL games, plays, flags, and such, let those who enjoy the sport and thread enjoy it...

I haven't watched a lot of NFL in several years because LA did not have a team and I had no real stake in it. The national anthem controversy last year didn't help. But this is a new year, and I'm going to ignore the politics as much as possible and try to just enjoy it for the game that it is. I remember as a kid watching the Rams play under the Cali sun in those blue and whites. Those guys seemed like gods. So I'm going to try to relax and enjoy it again as a game with all its flaws.

100% agree.....I've been a NFL fan since I was 7 years old pulling for my beloved Baltimore Colts, now it's the Ravens, I enjoy the game for what it is, a game, not politics, or who's right or wrong, no doubt the game has changed in so many ways since those days as a child but in the end it's 11 on 11, Offense vs. Defense.my the best team win.

Like you, and especially like Sammy, I used to worship a local team that wore blue and white, and had a horseshoe on the helmet. They used to have an intense rivalry with the blue and white team from the left coast. Those were the days, and those men were football gods. I lived and died with those Colts, right to the day they were ripped from my heart by He Whose Name Can't Be Said Aloud. It never got any better than the days of Johnny U vs Roman Gabriel or Bart Starr. NFL football changed for me after 1983. I still watch but have never loved a team like I did the old Baltimore Colts. -- Al

Tom...
what's the mood of "Joe Blow" fan on the street about Le'Veon Bell holding out...
this is becoming very public and personal with his team mates...
both Roethlisberger and Foster are making their feelings on his absence very public...
does this destroy their relationships if he comes back later?

At first most Steeler players from what I heard over the Summer was "all part of the game, no hard feelings etc"...fast forward to week 1 regular season I hear some hard words coming from those same players...I hope he sits out at least 3 more weeks myself..:)

The NFL picks a group that had a hit song named “On Bended Knee” to sing the first national anthem of the season. I’m 100% sure that it’s just a coincidence but it’s still really funny.

Yup, and thier version of the National Anthem sucked like this game.....a real barn burner at 6-3 late 3rd quarter, feel like I'm watching pre-season week 5!!!!

Ok, finally got a game....2 minute warning...Falcons on the move.

How many time were the Falcons inside the 10 and scored no TDs? The refs gave them a gift with one more play at the end and they still couldn't score. Matt Ryan always chokes

Matty Ice!!?? Never could figure that nickname out??? More like Matty choke.

Every college and pro game I've watched this year has had a weather delay. More than I can ever remember seeing. It seems like a bit of overkill to delay games for hours because of some rain. Play on.

Watched a few minutes of TNF, or as I like to call it TNSnoozeFest. The NFL needs to dump this stupid TNF. The games are always crap. Loved the Philly 3-yards and a cloud of dust passing attack.:rolleyes2: The product continues to deteriorate. -- Al

Most people think he is an idiot for passing 5 years 70M (a lot of it was guaranteed). General opinion is he is pretty stupid at this point as every game he could miss , it is a $900,000 loss on his part. I think he smoked too much weed honestly, as a running back, he is living in an alternate reality if he thinks he will get more than $14M a year and how long of a contract? My opinion, he is an idiot and if James Connor does the job that he is currently doing/improving from the pre season, the Steelers will leave him unemployed. My opinion, what we lose is his ability to catch a pass out of the backfield as that was where I always thought he was even more of a playmaker than running.

Anyhow, long story short, general consensus is that he is a moron with a capital M.

On this weekend against the Browns, I could see the Steelers losing this one. Lots of distraction obviously in the locker room with Bell issue and more importantly the Defense is not ready to go. They are just not there yet, I think they will improve as time moves on. Of course, if our O puts up as many points each week in reality as they should on paper, who knows.

Tom...

yea...it seems rare this day and age....when the players band together...and voice negative support for another player holding out while negotiating his contract...

all understanding the longevity of a player's life span in the NFL...everybody is trying to get what's best for them...both the team and player included...

I thought in the beginning his team mates were behind him in his getting a secured contract...but now...which is pretty rare...some of them are being very vocal about how he's hurting the team and needs to get back...

if Conner can fill his shoes...then LaVeon is making a huge career mistake...I can't fathom giving up a million per game to holdout...I'm sorry...Earl Thomas included...I just can't understand those numbers being passed up...what a roll of the dice they are taking...

well, not sure what to say about the Steelers, ahead by 2 touchdowns late in the rain and we fumble twice. Still have FG to win it, screw that up in OT, then turn it over in OT while trying to win for the 3rd time, only to have to block a FG. 6 turnovers, holy crap, not what I would have predicted. We are not ready for prime time yet. Just ugly. Thanks Directv for the free Sunday ticket preview........NOT

Tom...
hey a tie!
shooooooot man...that's good...
after watching the Cowboys stumble around for 3 hours...
I think we are already mathematically eliminated from the playoff...
I'll start waiting for next year now...

Rather surprised that both the Ravens and Redskins dominated their opponents so completely. I was under the impression that both the Bills and Cardinals were decent teams but they sure didn't look it. Will withhold judgement on both teams until a few more games are played but both the local teams looked good today. -- Al
