N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (2 Viewers)

My cousin lives just outside of Atlanta, he went to the media day/night dog and pony show yesterday, he said it was a sea of red, white and blue with a Rams fan here and there sprinkled into the crowd.

He's trying to score tickets and if he gets me one, I can stay with him, if I can't get a flight, it's only an 18 hour or so drive, I can do that no problem.

We'll see...…...

Tickets can always be had.....for a price!

Good luck! If you get a ticket perhaps I’ll order a few items so you can make it an official bidness trip!
I live within a mile or two of MB stadium.

Even if I wasn't backing the Patriots I would still root against LA because they have a player who I never want to see win a Super Bowl: Ndamukong Suh.

Doris Kearns Goodwin or whoever the Rams CB is who got away with murder regarding the infamous non PI call is covering himself in glory, running his mouth about how Brady is done, old, slow, he hates the Patriots from his Bills days as they always ran up the score (gee, I thought his job as CB was to stop them, not whine about them running up the score), then he says he wants to be like the character in "A Bronx tale" who beats up the biker gang and then says "I want you to know who did this, I did this"...……………...then he backpeddled during the media event last night, saying his comments were taken out of context...…..ie, his coach told him to STFU...……….then they pulled him out of the media event, very bizarre, I was waiting for one of those vaudeville long hooks to come out and drag him off of the stage.

Did you ever notice how the great NFL teams never trash talk before a big game? I read somewhere that most of that is due to the coach. Lombardi's Packers, Gibbs's Redskins, Walsh's Niners and Belichick's Patriots never seem to have been involved in that type of bulletin board material.

It’s minor, but i also love that the pats don’t do end zone dances

The league is filled with morons. Steeler fans want them to get rid of Bell and Brown and bring in good character guys. Problem is I think there are not enough good character players to go around anymore.
If the league starts getting into guaranteed money, like Kirk Cousins, you're going to see more and more problems with players.

"The NFL; a league filled with morons"...……………...LOL, thanks for this, you made my day.

Brown and Bell are top five talents at each of their positions, they shouldn't be going anywhere.

The problem in Pittsburg is not the players, it's the coach IMO.

Amazing that basically in my NFL fan experience time, the Steelers have had three coaches.

THREE.

The Patriots have been the gold standard for going on 18 years, prior to that they were for the most part a tire fire.

The Steelers have been a great team for the better part of 45 years, 6-2 in the Super Bowl, they are the team of the decade in the 1970's, took a bit of a hit in the 1980's, they were very good in the 1990's, the 2000's and the 2010's.

Unlike the Patriots, they don't lose Super Bowls to tomato cans like the Giants (twice) and blow games like they did vs the Iggles. If they lose to the Rams on Sunday, they will be 5-4 in the Super Bowl under Brady/Belichick, they really need to win this game to cement their legacies IMO.

6-3 with 3 out of 4 on the front end and 3 out of 5 on the back end looks much better than 5-4 with 3 out of 4 on the front end and back to back losses on the back end.

I might be a bit harsh, but this is my opinion.

I wouldn't bring up players running their mouths given the way Gronk embarrassed himself. Does he have brain damage or is he just an arrogant a-hole? Not that those are mutually exclusive. The league should fine or suspend him for his offensive comments.

great football player...
but he really is a bone head...

let me give you a math problem...^&grin

that's crazy...
something like a teenager would say...

reminded me of his "Drop the Mic" episode...

Maybe Der Commissioner will suspend him for the Super Bowl, I'm sure it's on the table.

You're honestly trying to compare him being a moron to Doris Kearns Goodwin providing bulletin board material?

Holy ****.

Gronkowski does comes off as having an elevator that does not goes to the top floor, but I find his antics amusing. I do think his WWE move on Tre'Davious White a couple of years ago was inexcusable, but the guy never ever talks trash. Not too mention he quietly donates thousands to children's hospitals with little fanfare or attention.

Well what do you know, it's become a huge story here in Boston.

On the 6:00PM news here in Boston, the lead story was...…………………….something about how it's going to be like Siberia here tomorrow.

Then they talked about a few crimes in the city.

Then they talked a local resident who found a potato at the supermarket that looks like Richard Nixon.

Then they talked about the weather.

Again.

THEN; during the Sports segment, they talked about...……………………..the Celtics win, the Bruins game tomorrow, a few stories about the Super Bowl.

Then a story about some kid who lost his pet squirrel in a bizarre gardening tool accident.

Then a story about how folks can bring their bottles, cans and cardboard to the local recycling facilities around the city and get a free oven mitt in return.

Then they wrapped up the news.

So gee, sorry everyone, no mention of the comments Gronk made.

As a matter of fact, I had no idea what the comments were until I googled "Gronkowski's comments at the Super Bowl."

I'll report back after the 11:00PM news to see if Inspector Columbo is on the case yet.

What he said was childish and crass, he is a single 29 year old guy who has always loved Women, SO WHAT? If the worst thing he does is utilize sexual innuendo in his speech, who gives a crap. I for one am so sick of this PC world where everyone is offended by something, it gets old. Was it the right setting for those comments, NO, but suspension...…………………………..get real. Gronk has never pretended to be anything other than what he is.

I am not a "fan" of either team but have always been a fan of Gronk's ability, best tight end I have ever seen when healthy.

but I find his antics amusing.

Jason/Tom...

really?

I have followed both your posts for years on here...

for real...

I thought I had a sense of how you guys called things...
but you both surprised me here...

I find it hard to believe y'all find this amusing or say "he is what he is"...

he said this to a woman at a public press interview...

would this have been the appropriate time for her to blush and giggle?

All,

This is kinda like what I am whipping up on game day:

botana-for-4.jpg

Its a botana and guacamole is a must!

TD: Yeah the PC culture sucks! You have to be careful what you say to waitresses sometimes...except the Spanish speaking ones who love it when you call them "mi amor, mi reyna or mi prieta linda"

Panzer: That hit was inexcusable, but he DID apologize quickly and the best gifts/donations are the ones that are left unsaid.

ZB: You boy Gronk dances in the endzone and the sidelines...so hush.

Combat!: Yes fine him, but the female reporter has a responsibility to call him out IF she feels he (or anyone else) crossed the line.

MM: If he said that to my wife or my daughters they would have smacked the **** out of him...tv or no tv...famous or not famous...you've met them!

JR: The leagues IS filled with morons...so is our government.

Warrior: Ok, I give in-UNLCE!-the Patriots rule, but I will still secretly root for the Rams!

Anyways, this is my attempt to get the thread back on track and making us laugh again.

John from Texas

PS: Its cold today in San Antonio...high of 58 with some showers.

Not excusing him, but he has never apologized for the "I am a single crass guy with no manners who is always looking to get laid". That is what I meant by he is what he is. What he said during the press conference, sophmorish, if the reporter was offended, then her right to call him on it. I am sick of the pardon the pun Monday Morning PC Backs looking to be offended on someone elses behalf. Whether what he said offends me or you or anyone else is really not relevant because the quote was not directed to me, you or anyone else. Now, he is an employee of the Pats and he was officially representing them at the time, again, that is up to Robert Kraft to make that call. My point is, it is what it is and I am not judging someone else publically who has zero relevance to me.

TD,

He said that? God help him when he mets "the one". Man, he'll have some eh-splaining to do before SHE says "I do", if he ever gets married. Haha!

I'm all for ignoring Gronk who obviously is a few bricks short of a load but if we are calling idiots out for what they said on media day, then you have to start with him. By all means let him play though. Maybe Bill will put him in on defense again and we can see him run like a wounded rhino on mutual of Omaha. The NFL would never suspend a Pat star for a big game. Think of the story line. Everyone is out to get them. They are the victims of a conspiracy due to their success. Talk about PC. Taking responsibility for your actions is a thing of the past. If this was a one off deal for Gronk, you could say the guy was just a creep - like Ed Gein in his mother's dress - but this is some type of reoccurring joke to him. Very weird. But I'm exhausted by all the Patriot victimization claims. I'm surprised they haven't been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for all the wrongs that I read here that they endured. Onward to the game. Will it ever start?

I called out Doris Kearns Goodwin over comments he made PRIOR TO THE MEDIA DAY, he then tried to retract those comments DURING MEDIA DAY but failed miserably, some nonsensical bullshit about "My comments were taken out of context"...…….yeah, sure they were.

Good luck in the game Doug; your team is in the Super Bowl, so relax and enjoy it.
