N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (2 Viewers)

Patriots
Since December 23, 2018
Every team has ≥ 2 losses
in the regular and post season

Except for one
Patriots - 0

Pats' Defense so far...

- 34 total points allowed, just 20 by the defense (6.8 per game, or 4.0 per game by the defense)
- 1192 total yards allowed (238.4 per game)
- 12 turnovers caused (2.4 per game)
- 66 total first downs allowed (13.2 per game)

We're talking about a league that's now heavily slanted towards greasing the skids to allow offenses to rack up points.

Regardless of who they have played, that is total domination.

On a pace to be a historic defense and again, we'll see how things shake out vs the Chefs, Dallas, Iggles, Ravens and Texans, they also still have the Jets, Miami, Bills, Browns, Bengals and the Giants on their schedule.

Injuries are the X factor, so we'll see.

I wonder if Baker Mayfield dreampt about Joey Bosa last night because it seemed as if Bosa was attached to his body. Mayfield has some growing up to do; he refused to shake Richard Sherman's hand before the game, which annoyed him. Wonder if Sherman went up to him after the game and asked him, "you mad, bro?" :wink2:

The Niners have looked great in their first four games. If they beat the Rams this Sunday they will be in good shape to be undefeated going into their November 11 game against the Seahawks.

Following yesterday’s game the Niners have the second best defense and fourth best offense, according to NFL stats. To say my son is happy so far would be an understatement.

Brad:

There is a real buzz about them in the Bay Area for the first time in years.

The defensive line is legit with first-round draft picks and the secondary is playing incredible.

While I don't think they are near the Patriots, as of today I would say they are the best team in the NFC.

You can’t make some of this stuff up. Video shows that Mayfield shook hands with Sherman and the Niners {eek3} Sherman now days he owes Mayfield an apology.

He is another head case. He is trying to spin this as misremembering. LOL. How do you get confused about whether a guy shook your hand or not? He and Brown should start up their own franchise. In China.

consider the source...
Sherman is pretty high up there on the A-hole list with me...
too many hits with his head...
he can't remember things...

Never mind the fact that in this day and age with cameras everywhere Sherman didn't think that their would be video evidence to contradict his accusations.

I can only think that in the heat of the moment he forgot that they had shaken hands. Otherwise, it doesn't make any sense.

It looks like Sherman admits he was wrong and wants to apologize to Mayfield:

From KPIX 5 in the Bay Area:

“It’s definitely my bad,” Sherman said Wednesday during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. “I never want anybody to have to deal with some stuff that they didn’t do. And so, you know, the questions that he’s gonna get and the annoying, nonsense questions about some stuff that happened in a game that’s already been done, you know, sure he’ll get an apology for that.

“I’ll probably reach out to him via text or social media to actually get a hold of him and talk to him in person, I mean on the phone. But, yeah, because that sucks. Yeah, yeah, he definitely deserves an apology, and that’s my bad on that.”

oooooh yea...

that sounds really sincere on Sherman's part...

“It’s definitely my bad,”
“I’ll probably reach out to him."

good for you Sherman...
what a grand gesture you're offering after all that stink you blew up...
he really should put as much emotion into his apology as his accusation...

fool can't even remember who's hand he shook...

I'm a little biased...^&grin
after he mad that cocky trash talk to Brady a few years ago...
"you mad bro?"
I disowned him after that...

George

This is a FANTASTIC post as it highlights some things I have said about NE for a decade plus now. When you look at the era that their Defense has played in, I think they will be hard to keep off anyone's Top 10 Defensive teams of all time. With the pass happy, video game offense that is the NFL these days, it's easy to forget what wins them those championships- defense. If this were the 60's or the 70's- the era of Defense, then those guys would be getting far more credit than they have. But when you have a charismatic golden boy under center, the defense gets no love! {sm4}

Great post!

George- I was standing downtown here in Harrisburg waiting for my wife and daughter to come have lunch with me. I'm in my suit and all and this older gentlemen comes walking by, stops and goes (can you guess??? {sm4})

"Excuse me, has anyone told you, you look like...."

And I go "...Howie Long, yes sir, I get that a lot." {sm4}{sm4}

That's awesome; my Dad was thrilled that I had Charlestown MA born and raised Howie Long as a customer...……………..;)……….

Patriots defense last night; 14 points allowed, although not really as one TD was on a strip sack on Brady, the second TD was a lucky *** bobbling catch and then the safety whiffed on the tackle.

They also forced four turnovers, ran a fumble back for a TD and blocked their second punt of the year that also got returned for a TD.

Their defense is other worldly, they are going to go as far as the defense carries them this year...………………….

Huge game for the Rams today. It may determine whether they are going to be competitive this year and how real the Niners really are. The Rams will be without Gurley, Clay Matthews and Talib. Some big holes. I'm interested to see if Henderson finally sees the field. He is a ball player out of Memphis that the Rams took in the second round. Might actually be an improvement over an injured Gurley.

The Niners have some injuries themselves. Their FB is out for 4-6 weeks, they lost a tackle and Kittle is questionable. A big game for both teams.

I have to think the Rams are primed for this one. A huge game at this point of the season coming off that close loss at Seattle. The Rams are tough at home and have the extra couple days of rest. Kupp is one of my favorite players. Talk about a smart and tough guy. Not the most talented WR they have, but man is he clutch. The Rams have also started finding the TEs which might open up the defenses they have seen. I'll probably get some lame east coast game and won't be able to watch it but there is always NFL Red Zone to catch the highlights.
