I am with you mate; so long as we get them with a bearskin colpack with ribbon tassel. The most colourful are the Hussars - their outlandish costumes typical of their origins. These are truly men-of-action, all cavalier and reckless courage - most likely to engage in a hack-and-slash melee, in addition to their usual scouting and screening missions.
The flamboyant hussars were "loved by every wife and hated by every husband".
They should do more of these in miniatures![]()
While I think the Chasseurs a Cheval are a more colorful and useful choice, not doubt these Grenadier a Cheval are quite impressive.

I am with you mate; so long as we get them with a bearskin colpack with ribbon tassel.I think that was the coolest headgear of the French army.
That's really why I mentioned the Chasseurs. Some like these would do though.
None of the major concerns have done the Grenadier a cheval yet, but Hussars are always good. Especially the 3rd and the 7th French Hussars.
For me, the 4th & 6th Hussars for their flamboyant red pelisse & dolman respectively
I just have a preference for the 3rd and the 7th purely for the movie The Duelists. Any Hussars would be a welcome addition.
I don't think what CS (or anyone else) releases will be a factor. FL has shown that it releases what it feels fits the battles it is doing in an order that fits its internal prospectives, not what any other manufacturer may be doing.Since CS just released their Chasseurs, it is probably more realistic to hope for FL to come up with some Hussars. The Hussars considered themselves more dashing than Chasseurs but I am perfectly fine with both![]()
This is a great atmospheric, moody movie. -- AlI don't think what CS (or anyone else) releases will be a factor. FL has shown that it releases what it feels fits the battles it is doing in an order that fits its internal prospectives, not what any other manufacturer may be doing.
I loved The Duelists and of course either of those would be fine as it seems they both must have been from an elite company since they did indeed both wear the colpacks. I would love to see especially Harvey's uniform from this scene, the green and red is well matched.

That is a different matter. Each major unit type had dozens, if not many score regiments. The French Chasseurs a Cheval had 21 and the Hussars 14. So even if that comment were representative, there would be many options for doing the same type of unit.I remember reading somewhere about FL doing a particular release but doing a regiment not currently covered by other manufacturers. My inference is that FL does consider what is already in the market at the moment... at the same time, doing a release that still meet their objectives for the battles (eg. Borodino) they are focusing.
I hope so too; just as I hope to see the Rifles this year. That's good to know, Bill.
I hope FL has been diligently reading our posts and concluded that the accelerated release of all-action Hussars and Chasseurs actually meet many of their own objectives.![]()
FL don't have to worry about what the others do
nobody does it like FL
FL covers everybody that was there
nobody does that
