Napoleonic Paintings You Would Like to Represent (2 Viewers)

That is interesting and scary but seemingly incorrect historically for Waterloo. There was no such incident at the sunken road. The closest real event was when a detachment of Cuirassiers was nearly wiped out by British line fire from above while traversing the sunken road.

I know this episode has been called into question.
Lashouk "Imperial Guard" wrote that one whole brigade of cuirassiers rode in that sunken road.
In "Les Miserables" Victor Hugo wrote that Ney sent two bodies of Cuirassiers against the English. Donop's Cuirassiers rode into the hidden trap, while Milhaud's Cuirassiers, taking a left turn, emerged unscathed and hurled themselves at the English squares...
Aside from that this is nice painting though.

One more "unstoppable cuirassiers"

This fine painting has been posted before but I found I have a better version so enjoy. As a scene to reproduce, it is a bit too ceremonial for me but it is a nice painting.

Poles would be Awesome Gebhard! As would Italians. It has been almost a whole quarter of a year since First Legion's last Napoleonic offering!! :D:eek:

The 3rd picture from the top is showing the Red (Dutch) lancers, right? The bugler seems to be from the Red Lancers.

Those are Guard Lighthorse Regiment (Poles) Battle of Somosierra.

Might have been brought up earlier in this thread already, but I post it anyway ;)
General Lasalle, like on this painting, would make for a splendid Miniature.

Alright , Good to have you join the party ;) Yea that ones a dupe but who cares its a beaut . Some of us were trying to convince Matt how Great Lasalle would be as part of their personalities line a ways back . Also Lasalle would go great if they did Wagram done the road :) Would be perfect for those Austrians we have been asking for and I could also use some of my Bavarians :) All the best Gebhard

More great additions. Here is another Averyanov I am particularly fond of; I really like his style and he is an excellent painter of horses.;)

Well that last painting captures completely the concentration and style of a fine cross country horse. Horse and rider are also in excellent position for their jump, much better than for the average Hussar I would say. The horse reminds me of one of mine in presence, style and enjoyment of his job.;)

Although we have two Russian Hussar regiments already, I like the colors of this husssar. Maybe after we get some German, Polish and more British and French Cavalry?

It is pretty cool, isn't it but I agree with your priorities, but would of course reverse the order.;):D

The Russian Soumsky Hussars and Brit Light Dragoons look great - I would have issued some bonds to finance the acquisition of one regiment of each if they come in more dynamic poses.
