Napoleonic Paintings You Would Like to Represent (1 Viewer)

Oooooo...I really like that one Spitfrnd...who is it by? Do you know? I agree that the Waterloo version would be great (though a tad overdone).

This is painting by artist Bogdan Willevalde, i think he was Russian or Polish

"Capture of a French regiment's eagle by the cavalry of the Russian guard at Austerlitz"

Here is some more

Very good mates, nice to see this thread get continued support and reinforcement. I would love to see more French cavalry, starting with the long awaited Cuirassiers and of course including the Dragoons.:D

Bill,

I love the paintings you show here...would you have a painting of the Totenkopf Hussars - does that exist? Apologies if it is wrong  but there was a request for these figures sometime ago...and I somehow looked the look of these.

Thanks for any help
Steve
I can't seem to find a good sized one but they do exist. Here is one example I found from the web:

deathheadhussars-var439.jpg

It is a Richard Knotel and available here http://www.military-art.com/var439.htm

Here is a another painting

Of course the term applied to both the Prussian 5th Hussar Regiment prior to 1815 and the 2nd Leib (Guard) Regiment from 1815 forward. This painting is of the 2nd I think since the facings and turnbacks appear to be all black.

Here is another Totenkopf example:

With fellow other members and maybe to influence Mr Matt a bit for some latter releases ;) .I'm sure this is where you come for a little time off ;) Its very enjoyable to view such works and easier than you other job :) . All the best Gebhard

Indeed, and I love looking at cavalry, be it photos or figures. There is something very majestic about the horse. One of my favourite animals.

No argument from me on that one mate.:D

I thought somehow you might agree Bill :)

It is strange on my part why I have never collected Napoleonics as it must be the one war where horses reign supreme :D :D Well I do have my Ceremonial collection so perhaps that is why.

Well now that you mention it, I suppose it is one reason I do collect them.

Since we are on the subject of cavalry, here is a slightly larger version of Gebhard's nice posting of that fine "Die Uberlebenden" painting by Mark Churms

Here's a larger and new Totenkopf for you Steve by a talented French painter, GIUSEPPE RAVA

As to where to use them, well I am no expert on Prussians but I understand the Totenkopf Hussars participated in numerous battles including:
1806 - Drobin, Sierps, Biezun, Mlawa u. Soldau, Lahna, 1807 - Schippenbeil, Lennenburg, Waltersdorf, Wackern, Eylau, Braunsberg, Wusen (Vorpost.), Albrechtsdorf, Danzig (Gdansk), Spanden, Dietrichsdorf, Heilsberg, Gollau and Königsberg, 1812 (as Hus. R. Nr. 1 under Major von Cosel) - Poniewiesz, Borusk (Bobrujsk ?), Wyszki (part of regiment), Czeszawen, Garossenkrug (part of regiment), Neugut (part of regiment), Schöppingsmühle and Baldohnen, Neumühle (part of regiment) and Friedrichstadt, 1813 - Dannigkow, Magdeburg, Bernburg, Halle (Jäg. Sq.), Friedeburg (1. Sq.), Luckau (Jäg. Sq.), Kalau, Hoyerswerda, Luckau, Großbeeren, Jüterbog, Klausdorf, Dennewitz, Burgxdorf, Streumen, Colmitz, Treugeböla, Leipzig, Zütphen, Gorkum, Heusden, Herzogenbusch, Breda, Bavel, Doest and Ypelaer (part of regiment), 1814 - Hoogstraten and Turnhout, Antwerp, Lier, Condé, Soisson, Fontenay, La Fère Champenoise, Jonville and Compiègne.
