Napoleonic Paintings You Would Like to Represent (2 Viewers)

I guess the Hussar pigtails would be correct for Borodino? But not for Waterloo. I don't know when the style changed in the French Army.
The charge is from Friedland but the pigtails would still be OK for 1812 or so. Besides, the Hussar's clung to their pigtails in some units for quite some time after they are officially passe so why not Waterloo? Frankly I would use them anywhere, they look so good.:D

Hussars with pigtails would be a beautiful figure. If we mention Rifles and Dragoons often enough, Matt may make them just to keep us quiet!:D:D

Works for me; Rifles and Dragoons, Rifles and Dragoons, Rifles and Dragoons, Rifles and Dragoons, Rifles and Dragoons, Rifles and Dragoons, Rifles and Dragoons, Rifles and Dragoons, Rifles and Dragoons, Rifles and Dragoons, Rifles and Dragoons.:p:D

But what is the next secret range ?

Don't you think that the 90mm Saladan figure feels alone ? It would be strange if Matt would have chosen only one figure like that out of nowhere... Maybe there are a lot of 54mm FL crusaders hiding somewhere in Matt's closet ? :))

How do you feel about Rifles and Dragoons?

Well time for a wee respite from my love of Rifles and Dragoons; this scene could now we done nicely with the Chasseurs and I love these Averyanov paintings.

In honor of the shipment of the Scots, let's have another look at what we might eventually do with them if they get some fighting comrades.

Pity this is not in color but it certainly is evocative and conveys the raw chaos of the battle at this point. There are many possabilities for Talavera but this one, scaled back a bit for those with normal budgets, is a nice one I think.

Spitfrnd:

You have a great library of Napoleonic images. These are all great and most suitable for figures. I would love to see more attention to Peninsula figures...I keep telling myslf I am going to do some conversions for Spanish guerillas, but of course...you know how that goes.

I always loved this Goya...even before I had much knowledge of Napoleonic history.

Darn...this picture came out smaller than I anticipated.

I quite like both of those as well. I do thihk you meant each one of these painting would fit with one of the two current FL battles though; I don't think either unit was at both.;):D

I also agree about the seperate riderless horses and fallen riders. I am pretty sure they would do well.

Humor is most welcome :) Sometimes it funny to think how serous we can all be for a forum full of men who are playing with Toy Soldiers .

Yes there is that. To return to our theme, here's one I think you might like Gebhard. I would prefer the British Waterloo equivalent but must admit it is a nice scene.

Oooooo...I really like that one Spitfrnd...who is it by? Do you know? I agree that the Waterloo version would be great (though a tad overdone).

Bill,

I love the paintings you show here...would you have a painting of the Totenkopf Hussars - does that exist? Apologies if it is wrong  but there was a request for these figures sometime ago...and I somehow looked the look of these.

Thanks for any help
Steve

Bill ,
That is truly a thing of Beauty , thanks for the post . I of course I love it :D but I think I have come to know you a bit . I'm sure it has a certain appeal to you apart from the brush strokes of a Master . That is after all French Eagle in his hand :) Thanks again for the post Gebhard

Ah you noticed that did you.:eek:;):D Actually I also do very much like the painter's skill.

Sadly this was another internet find with no information on the painter. It is of course the taking of a French Eagle by the Russian Guard at Austerlitz. If I come accross any more information on it I will happily pass it along.
