The new Kreigsmarine band ad in the new collector got me to thinking about naval ranges in general. To date K&C have created a limited number of RN and USN pieces with some very expensive landing craft. We've also seen some Kreigsmarine with a mini-sub and crane type halftrack. As with all lines generally you need more than just the individual soldiers for depth and longevity. My question is how can these lines be sustained if we don't see any boats (albeit obviously small ones). I can't imagine the cost of producing even a small PT type boat would be reasonable given its size and complexity so really can these Naval Lines be around for long? ThoughtsTREEFROGGERS. ^&confuse

I think you are right. Cost prohibits schnellboats and PTB's (Look at the price of Figarti's) so where the KM range will go I have no idea really. Have not looked much at the new Kriegsmarine sets but, I would imagine they will be usurped into the LAH parade series rather than the KM range, though, it may be placed in the KM to keep it going.

You could do admirals launches and the like which would be small enough but, I always wondered about a german naval range like you are and how long it could be sustained with land troops alone.

I think Mitch is right the new Navy figures are under the LAH heading and can be used mixed with them which lessens the need for their Boats somewhat.Mike B.

Lack of boats has kept me from collecting the CHina Marines and naval personnel in the HK series. There is a San Pueblo made by someone but cost prohibitive IMO. Interesting that the WB Nile gunboat is comparable in scale and at a reasonable price.

scratch building boats isnt as bad as it seems ,,especially after the first,

Couldn't agree more with both of these sentiments!
